Question about Chevrolet Lumina

1 Answer

I have a 1997 Chev Lumina with 340k on it. My problem is with the ABS. For about a year the ABS warning light has been on, I had it read and it had a number of faults with multiple sensors. It was going to be costly to repair so I left it. Now the problem is the ABS warning light has turned off and the ABS is engaging...sounds like not a problem I know, but the ABS engages when I am almost at a complete stop, in conditions that wouldn't require it to engage(roads are clear and dry) I am unsure what the solution is to the problem now. Any help would be appriciated.

With so many miles on it the abs motor sounds like its playing trick from old age. Replace the worn abs MOTOR AND MODULE WITH A USED ONE WITH LOW MILAGE ON IT. That sound resolve your problems

I have a 1997 lumina and I have a blue idot light on my dash that says lock trac. what does it mean?

That light indicates that the ABS system is engaging, you should feel a vibration in the brake pedal and hear a groaning noise.

97 Lumina dash warning lights stay on

For the security light you need to replace the ignition lock cylinder or bypass the security system. For the other two, you need to have the car scanned to see what codes are in the ecm and the abs module.

Change oil light.

Turn the ignition to the "ON" position. with the engine NOT running. With the ignition in the "ON" position press the gas pedal down to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds. The light should flash twice. If it doesn't you need to try resetting it again.

99 chevy lumina wont crank!

you probably have a broken wire in the ignition that reads the resistance in the chip in the key. there are two wires that attach the ignition switch to the security system.I had the same problem and it can be easily fixed by putting a resister in place of the chip in the key.any garage that puts alarm systems in cars will be able to do this very easily and very economically.
