It is either the drivers side door lock or the passenger side but i would go for the drivers door first, it wants a new lock but more often than not removing the door panel and squirting with a proper oil can with engine oil in around the door lock and the operating mechanism will cure it

Where is the door lock relay located on a 1999 ford explorer? Electric door locks blows fuses. After replacing a fuse, the door locks will only work for a short time then blows fuse. I know the fuse/relay...

  • Aux Relay Box #4 is in the rear driver's side removable panel with the tire jack.
  • This Relay box holds the Door Lock / Unlock relays (ice cube type). It also holds the Driver Door Unlock Relay and the ACC Lights Relay (rectangular relays).

    1999 Ford Explorer Door Locks

Unfortunately, This is a very common problem with Ford Explorers! Ford replaces the locks when it encounters this issue. I managed to unseize my passanger door and tailgate lock, but the drivers door lock is broken beyond repair. You can purchase new remotes for your explorer and program them very easily. Just google ford key fobs...
