Question about 1999 Daewoo Lanos

1 Answer

So why does it take so long for the fridge to produce ice, and why after being turned on for 5 hours from new is there no water in the ice tray? The water runs via the water dispenser so why is it not in the tray ready to he turned to ice cubes?

First, why are you asking a question on fridges in a section about cars specifically Daewoo.BUT to answer your question......a fridge/freezer needs about 24 hours for the whole system to settle down, and reduce the internal temp BEFORE it makes ice,

My Fisher & Paykel E450 fridge only unit seems to be draining out too much water. The drain capture container at the back of the unit fills up about once a week. Any help would be good.

A fridge must be transported upright or if not left idle for several hours in it's new home before switching on. Failing to do that can seriously reduce the life of the compressor as also failing to ensure it is adjusted level to a spirit level or plumb-line accuracy can similarly do so.

A frost free fridge can produce quite a lot of water depending on the usage, the contents and ambient humidity. The water in the capture container that is fitted directly to the top of the compressor should evaporate almost as soon as it is produced due to the heat generated by the compressor.

It is possible the fridge isn't producing abnormal amounts of water unless the door seal is faulty, the door is being left open for periods that are too long or hot food or very moist food is routinely being placed inside.
It is possible the water isn't evaporating fast enough because the compressor isn't getting hot enough - possibly because it isn't working hard enough or perhaps it is cycling too quickly. Perhaps it has lost some refrigerant...

What does mean wayer coming from tailpipe 2000 Silverado

During combustion many gasses are produced as well as particulates. Water vapor (think super fine steam) is also produced and depending on the temperature outside and/or the temperature of the exhaust system (e.g. when first started it would be cool) the water vapor condenses and drips from the tail pipe. Just like water drips from an ice cold beverage container on a hot, humid day. ;-)

Water seepage at the bottom or floor of freezer. Water drips on the bottom floor of freezer, freezes, then ice build up.

You will want to check the rear of the fridge. There is an access panel there you can remove. Once removed, you can then check the drain hose and evaporator tray. There should be some water in the evap tray, if not, then the drain hose is plugged and causing water to run on floor.

I have a Kitchenaide Superba side by side refrigerator model #KSRB25FKSS02 and for the last 2 months nothing seems to last more than 3 days in the frig side (it seems warmer), and there is water leaking...

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

I filled the coolant reservoir with water & now my 1996 ford taurus wont start. Is water bad? What do I do?

water shouldn't have caused this unless motor was really hot and you poured ice water in it, I think there is another issue

Just installed yesterday/no ice water not chilled FRSU20DCB

Hi, it will usually take 72 hours after a new installation before you will get a full blown ice production going. The temp should be set to specs. Make sure that the arm on the ice tray is set to produce ice.(in the on position).

1994 Previa A/C problem

Look to see that the A/C condensate drains are working. You should see water dripping out from the front & the back whilst the A/C is running. If no water; clean the drain tubes. Also, you need to be running the A/C on the RECIRC mode (the little car with an arrow doing a u-turn inside the car); if not, you are air conditioning outside air, and the unit is icing up from too much humidity. Sort of like running your fridge with the door open...
If neither of those items correct your issue, you may need to replace the A/C thermister; but, that is a very rare failure.
