I have a 2004 Prius and the check engine light came on. We took it to the dealer and they said the code was P3108. They reset it and could not get it to come back on. They said they thought the visor mirror light may have been on , draining the battery. We turn off the switches to the visors to prevent this but a few days later the light came on again. We were at a body shop getting a few dings repaired and he tested for us and the code he got was the POA93 - Drive Motor performance. He reset it. We called the dealer and they toke the information down and said bring it in if the light comes on again. Has anyone experience this? Any thoughts what might be causing it?
P0A93 is an inverter cooling problem. The inverter is cooled by a dedicated cooling system, which consists of an electric water pump, cooling fan, and radiator. This cooling system is independent of the engine cooling system. The mechanic should check if there is sufficient amount of coolant for the inverter, check if the coolant hose is not bent or clogged, if the water pump / cooling fan motor connections are ok, and of course if both of the cooling fan motors are OK.
P3108 is generally loosing communication with the A/C system control module. This can usually be solved by checking the wires and or the converter inverter assembly.

The problem may be the check engine light only, whenever it turns on the master warning light may also turn on, if there is an autozone or similar autoparts place close by you can go there and they can diagnose the check engine light using their scantool, then you can reply here to me with the code numbers and I can help, the code numbers are important so please write them down.
IMHO,if they just charged me $700. i'd drop it off in morning & talk to the service manager/director car needs to have fuel press tested ect.which im sure were done for the price you paid but its not fixed!!! good luck

On a Prius, when the check engine light comes on it indicates a malfunction in the powertrain control system. You need to have the car scanned for codes to see where the fault lies. The red triangle lights because the check engine light is on. The VSC is disabled when the check engine light is on and that light comes on. Start with having the car scanned.
What was the weight of the oil that was put into the engine when it was changed? Prius engines are VERY PICKY about the proper weight of the engine oil. Trust me. I see this quite often. The wrong weight oil can do bizzare things, and def lower your mileage. Something you can check: Take off the tube leading to the throttle body, and look down into the intake. Do you see any oil laying in the intake manifold? If so, you DEF have the wrong weight oil. This will NOT set a Check Engine light, either. Hope this helps.
My Toyota Prius hybrid warning light has come on three times in eight years. If I turn the car off for 20 minutes, the hybrid light is off but the check engine light is on. After a while, the check engine light goes off. I think this problem is related to moisture somehow entering the hybrid vent on the driver's side. All three times this has happened, the weather was wet.
