Excess sideways pressure,or overheating,OR bad manufacturing,(its normally caused by a heavy handed person trying to remove it but moving the socket wrench sideways on removal.)

go somewhere else,a plug,if cracked, would cost peanuts to change.and you dont need a tune up to change one plug.

Thank you. I had a feeling I was being taken advantage of. Would any problems come up on a diagnostic test if the engine light is not on?

some might but only those that dont need immediate attention.

2000 chevy siverado radom missfire

Hello: Have you recently had any work done to it ? It may need a tune up.That includes spark plugs, spark plug wires, and a distributor cap, and (rotor if applicable). You may have a bad or cracked spark plug wire causing the spark to jump once in awhile.

Feels like its stuttering when i drive it (feels like it is gonna cut off)

Possible causes for your problem are:
  1. Cracked distributor cap
  2. Bad spark plug wires
  3. Fouled spark plugs
  4. Bad MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor
  5. Bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor
A visual inspection of the top 3 should take the least amount of time. Look for cracks in the distributor cap, burned spots inside the cap, bare spots on the spark plug wires. Pulling a spark plug and looking for evidence of oil to determine if it's been fouled.

As soon as you turn the key on the fan comes on and when you try to start it just cranks

check the spark plug wires. also change your spark plugs. If your spark plug wires are cracked or damaged then that would cause it not to start.

Engine light on / runs rough / Sometimes dies Has code p305

Code po305 is # 5 cylinder misfire. Check the spark plug wire and spark plug. use an inline spark tester to check the wire from coil to spark plug. If you have spark, then remove plug to see if it is fouled out. the best time to check for brake or cracked spark plug wiring is at night with engine running and doing a walk around to see if the insulation on wireing is broken or cracked. you will see the wires sparking at night. then replace the wires that are causing the problem.

REPLACE SPARK PLUGS ON MY 99 MIRAGE AND IT RAN PERFECT FOR A WHILE THEN IT STARTED PUTTIN AND SPITTING BLACK SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST...WHAT COULD THAT BE?

if you have replaced the spark plugs yourself you may have cracked the ceramic on a plug... this will cause a misfire, remove all the plugs and check them very carefuly for cracks etc.. and carefuly replace them but dont drop them into the holes and dont overtighten them and start them with your hands before useing a ratchet.

Check the COP(coil on plugs) boots. The 2000 and 2001 LS are known for oil soaked cop boots. The valve cover gaskets used on these years become brittle and crack which lets motor oil seep into the spark plug wells. The wells fill up with oil which soaks the boots that connect the spark plug with the coil causing the spark to jump before it gets to the plug.If not fixed it can cause the coil to short out.
I had the same starting problem on my 2001 LS. Then I noticed smoke comming from behind the right side valve cover. Then a few weeks later the engine started to miss. It's a good idea to check this and fix it early.
