1988 Toyota Supra Turbo. Automatic. When hot car turns over several times then starts and a puff of blue some comes out the exhaust. It idles rough until I hit the gas once then it is fine.

I do not think that is the solution. If what you are saying is true the oil would drain down and effect it when I cold start it. This only happens when it is hot on hot starts. Do you have any other thoughts?

The valve seals are leaking. When they leak then oil drips down in the cylinder. Causing the puff of smoke. And somewhat fouls the spark plug. When you rev it up it cleans the oil off of the spark plug and then the plug fires properly.

Try taking a white towel and putting it on the exhaust pipe. And start the car. See if the towel smells like fuel or oil. You are right. I read the question wrong. I thought that I read that it only does it on cold starts. But if you find out what the smoke is (fuel or oil) it will be easier to identify the cause.

if idle sound is an issue.... then put a bigger turbo on ur engine... smaller turbo means lesser weight which means that even at idle the back pressure will spin ur turbo blades.... if ur turbo is spooning at idle.. it's a good thing most guys aim at doing that... Dont worry...Be happy

1989 toyota supra hesitates and won't start

If Engine Starts with accelerator pedal depressed , check idle speed control valve (if equipped) and wiring connection. Did you check for vacuum leaks. Do you know if your ignition timing is correct? How did you check your fuel pump? I take it no codes have been set, so if not there are several things to check for when the engine stalls #1 is to check cold start injector and cold start injector time switch. If engine stalls sometimes- check airflow meter and connectors You can tap the connector or relay or wiggle and notice if there is a slight change in the engine idle.

1992 gmc sierra turbo diesel starts and idles fine until warm up

It's time for a Italian tune up!

The blue smoke can be one of two thing.

oil drop from the valve stem (from engine head to cyclinders)
or
diesel soot collect inside the exhaust system.

===
I will take a 5-10 minutes high rpm (not redline) ran on the highway.
Pay close attention to the rear view mirror and look for black diesel soot.
=== I will use Diesel Cleen or similar product to condition the fuel. (keep moisture down)
Use the recommended amount of SEAFOAM oil additive to condition the valve stem seal/rubber parts.

I can not rule out excessive blown by.
Can you get a diesel compression tester?
When was the last valve adjustment?

Please post the actual odometer on the engine and I will follow up on it.

1991 toyota supra blue smoke from tail pipe when get of the gas

The intake valve guide seals are worn and are letting oil slip by under high engine vacuum--as when you let up on the gas. The only fix is to take the cylinder head off and replace the valve guide seals. This problem is pretty normal for an older car with high mileage. It will probably run just fine. Just keep checking the oil level and keep it topped up.
