SOURCE: 1997 Gmc suburban 1500 How

the best way to fix it is find a good savlge yard , you will need complete steering column with switchs wiring and anti theft control box. they need to be match set all from the same car. shop around make shure they understand your problem , all the parts will cost about 250.00 350.00$ make shure to get money back warr.if not keep shoping. make shure the person understands and knows the system if not it will not work. I have repaired over 20 of this type and the first one sent me back to the school of hardknoxs.

SOURCE: What is wiring diagram of 1990 Chevy suburban

check that you have 12 volts at the big post with the two wires. If you have voltage there then very carefully touch the big post to the little post with a steel rod or screwdriver. If your battery is good then this process will bypass the keyswitch. be careful because as soon as you touch the two post the engine will turn over. The little wire send a signal to the solenoid to engage the starter motor. check the voltage of the little wire dissconnected. when someone turns the key to the start position the little wire should get 12 volts.

My 90 suburban, gmc, blows fuses when applying the brake & turn signals, what could be causing this?

There is more than likely a short in the system. The third brake or a wire along the line. Try installing a circuit breaker while you are diagnosing the problem, then start removing bulbs and disconnecting wire harnesses and trying the brakes after each item is removed from the loop. Do one at a time until the circuit stops popping.

Window Motors do not have relays

Check the window circuit fuse or all vehicle fuses

Get a wiring diagram & start at the beginning of the circuit
& walk down the problem, testing as you go with a volt meter

1990 Chevy GMC Suburban alternator wiring

Well, according to my diagrams for 88-94 models, the alternator only uses the red and brown. There are pink-black wires that power some of the sensors and solenoids but should go to a fuse marked ECM in the fuse box.
Have you tried hooking up the harness without using the pink-black wire ?
