Look for the backing sheilds touching the discs or stones caught in there.. if none of that is causing the problem you can wire brush the bads and file the edges off..

Pad material will cause these problems.... Buy good Cermic pads and new rotors and you won't have that problem

Front end shakes and squeals when braking

If the pads and rotors are in good condition, this shouldn't be happening unless you have bad tie rods or bad shocks. I just had a brake job 3K miles ago and the rotors are in bad shape. I can feel the ridges in them by feeling them through the rims. I also had a brake pad look good from the outside but got into it and it had split into two pieces.

I'm sorry to disagree with your mechanic, but it sounds to me like your rotors are warped.I would go ahead and replace rotors and pads with an estamated 5k sounds like they are thin.

ok part one
the wiring may be loose or the switch is worn out & works intermtantly or there is a bad earth connection
ok part 2
the squeal my be built up brak dust! this caused by fitting pads that are TOO HARD!
you can get a different pad that will not squeal but also there could be a rattle plate thats causing it its the steel plate against the **** pad !
Cheers Rob

Replaced brake pads, extreme squeal resulted

Pads will reproduce sound just like a needle on a phonograph. Hard linings will accentuate this. Have the rotors re-surfaced and finished with a non-directional pattern(I make a quick pass with a D/A sander over surfaces while still on the lathe) Generally this will help.

2005 Dodge Durango Front Brake Squeal

Did you buy factory pads or get cheap aftermarket pads? If aftermarket did you get the ceramic? The cheap aftermarket ones tend to squeal pretty bad. Like the last comment on here, you should have your rotors turned whenever you change the pads.

Try replacing the brake hose to that caliper, they collapse on the inside.
