If the check engine light is on look at the faults. It could be a defective cam sensor, the timing belt might not be in the place, or a defective mass air flow sensor.

SOURCE: geargox for mk 4 1.8 gti

The way to find this out is simple, on the housing of the trans there is a code, a serial number, that will tell you what type of gearbox is required for this model.

SOURCE: clutch on my golf gti turbo

it is the clutch.
theres nothing else you can do but replace the clutch.
as to the kind of clutch i would use original equipment to replace with.
be very carefull with after market stores.
there are better parts you can use but you must look into other clutchs that have been used and decide for yourself which one is best for you.

just a thinker for you.
if it is a 2000 car and this is its first clutch original equip allready proves to go this long.
dont get a kit that will need to be done again in 10000 miles cause a racer says its an awesome kit.

labor on that is expected to be in the 290 350 range.
parts on this is about 360 490

pilot bearing
throwout bearing
clutch plate
clutch disc
have all four parts replaced
no questions asked if they cant do the job right then find someone else.
dont short yourself on this job cause you will kick yourself later.

SOURCE: i have no spark from the coil pack on my mk4 golf

CHECK FUSE.IF ALL GOOD COIL OR COILS IS GETTING POWER.THEN COIL HAS A OPEN IN IT.NOW IF COILS ARE GOOD AND YOU NOT GETTING SPARK.YOUR PROBLEM IS IN THE IGNITION POWER TRANSISTOR.OR ENGINE SPEED SENSOR.YOUR BEST BET LET THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALER TEST THE IGNITION SYSTEM.BECAUSE IF YOU SHORT THE POWER TRANSISTOR OUT.YOU ARE GOING BE OUT OF A LOT OF MONEY.BUT IF YOU GOT ONE COIL NOT FIRING REPLACE IT.IF STILL NO SPARK LET THE DEALERSHIP. CHECK IT OUT.

Hi i have just bought a 07 1.4 tsi golf. The Turbo doesnt seem to be kicking in as it should is this a serious problem?

as it should or as you thought it would ?

TSI is a technology that combines supercharging AND turbocharging

The supercharging will give power at low revs and the turbo at higher revs.

this means that there isn't somewhere where the power "kicks in".

Its power from idling to the red line. full stop.

If you think it isn't right take it to a VW dealer to have it checked out.

However, faulty turbos or superchargers make a car undriveable, so maybe you are not receivinbg as much as you had hoped.

When i drive with my polo tdi the turbo just cuts out , it normaly happens when im in 4 gear and 5 gear .. I will be traveling at 100 Km per hour en the revs is at 2000 rpm , then i wont to exculerate and...

odd... sounds like the turbo has some sensor built in that cuts it off, do u know if other golfs have something like that? Could be a heat triggered mechanism or a backpressured one? have you modified intake path at all? egs boost controller, Blow off valve, Wastegate, intercooler?

Vw caddy 1.9 sdi r reg does not rev up

Check the turbo pipes for internal splitting , this will block air flowing through to the engine. Also check if a catalitic convertor is fitted , this could be blocked.
