2004 Ford Taurus: Just before leaving for vacation I had an oil change at a local lube stop. A few weeks ago after going for another oil change it was discovered that the wrong oil filter had been on the car the entire time. My car was running rough, shifting hard the entire 1200 mile trip and now it is slow to crank and indicates low oil pressure, but there is plenty of oil. If I add oil it does help, but I know I can't keep adding oil. What could be causing this? ( The battery is brand new)

I dont know why you would add oil if its full??? You need that checked out ASAP. I hope you have the old oil filter. a lawsuit may be in order. The incorrect filter may have damaged the engine.

Thanks, just added oil to see if it would make a difference. There was no logical reason why it would but it did. I have an appt with my mechanic tonight. It just makes no since, I can't think of what could be causing what appears to be a dry start. Yep, I have the old/wrong filter and am going after them to fix it. of course they are denying that it would have anything to do with it.

Have him check the oil pressure with a mecahnical gauge. that will tell him what he needs to know. If its too low, you may have internal engine damage.

2001 Ford Taurus low Idle at stop lights

I would make sure all connections on your filter housing is tight..Make sure theres nothing disconnected far as vacuum lines..If you have had your oil changed lately,,check the two lines that hook right where the air filter is..The jiffy lube places,,love to leave them off..If all is good i would suspect the idle air control valve

The starter keeps dying on my Taurus and needs replacement. last one is 3 months, before that 3 weeks and one prior less than 1 yr. Mechanic said he even smoothed out a rough spot on the fan and can't...

Can I ask where are you getting the starter from? is it the right size for you car. I had a 96 Taurus and only had to mine once. Lost mine a few years ago in the hurricane( live in New Orleans). ford has several different starters for the Taurus depending on engine size. Call your dealership to find out what starter you need. Your local auto parts store then can get you the right one. You can change this yourself. It takes about 45 minutes for a beginner. If you want to change it yourself. I'm here to tell you how. its just a ratchet, extensions, sockets, and a couple of wrenches. that's all, oh, and a little elbow grease.

Oil leak about the size of a quarter on ground -

Check around your rocker cobver and around the engine for oil leaking down over. it is possible that its just oil sat in the catch tray under the car leaking now and then. I would expect after 2-3 weeks though that all this would be gone.

I always pressure wash the oil leaked area and then when it starts again you have a better idea where it came from.

Ticking noise in engine. had oil changed to synthedic three weeks ago. ford taurus 2003

MINE DOES THE SAME THING. IT SEEMS TO ME FORDS ARE BAD TO DO THAT AFTER THEY GET A LOT OF MILEAGE ON IT. MINES USUALLY GETS QUITER AFTER IT WARMS UP. SOMETHING THAT HAS HELPED IS HEAVIER OIL (20/50) AND SOME MYSTERY OIL.

2005 ford taurus engine light on

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins. This may reset the lights timer. If it comes back on within the next few days the take it to a large auto parts store and most will bring their computer out and hook it to your car and read the code the light will leave in your car computer, then they tell what the code says and try to sell you the part. You might car the auto parts store first and tell them what you have and ask if then can read your code for you.Its usually a free service.

Anitfreeze leaking from passenger side north west corner of motor

keep antifreeze level up till you find the leak to prevent problems worsening. More than likely slow heat is caused by low level. Most popular leak is waterpump--also can be any of its many hoses. Probably not anything they did. have someone test it. some times looking with a good bright flashlight will track it without any need for pressure testing. Hope I helped. Thanks
