Is the Security light flashing on the dash? if so, it thinks you are trying to steal it. Have it towed to the dealer or other qualified repair shop.

Starting Problem

Fully charge the battery and see if it starts like it should. If your battery is fully charged, but still turns over slowly, its your starter. If using a fully charged battery solves your problem, its your alternator.

Check engine light comes on. RPMs surge and sometimes engine dies when idling after engine is fully warmed up. Car hesitates at times. Car will jump or **** at times when driving at highway speeds when...

Mine was doing that also.. We changed the two EGR valves, changed spark plugs and wires, and finally cleaned the Mass Air flow Sensor with carburetor cleaner. That seemed to helped the most. You have to take the sensor off to do it.. you can find a youtube video that explains it. Now all I have to do is figure out why my car's RPM's surge when slowing down.

What are the cylinder head bolt torque specifications for a 2001 Chev Impala 3.4 litre engine

Hello0 melaniewaite,

The torque is 44 ft. lbs. plus 95 degrees. These are torque to yield bolts so it is highly recommended to use only New bolts.

See torque sequence below.

I have a 2000 toyota camry. I turn the key on, dash board lights come on but the engine wont turn. checked the battery, fuses. they are good. could it be the alternator.

Did you have the battery checked by a doing a load test? Do you hear a "clicking" sound when you turn the key to start? If you hear a clicking sound, and you're positive the battery is good (fully charged) it could indicate a bad starter solenoid.

By the way....what kind of vehicle is it....a 00 Camry or an 04 Impala?

2000 chev impala. just tried the a/c fans and blowing ok but no a/c. That's it

Check your a/c relay and fuses. Sounds like there isn't any r134a in the system. Try bypassing the low pressure sensor and see if the compressor clutch comes on while the engine is running. If it does check the charge in the system.

New battery car wont start.

Sounds like it's the alternator. Not charging the battery. Which would explain why it died while driving.

What battery should be used in the car?

It depends on which brand of car battery you prefer. You will get a range of different opinions on which brands are the best based on experiences with different brands.
If you are happy with the Exide brand then the battery selection depends upon which engine you have fitted in the car - the 2.2 litre or 2.4 litre. Anyhow here are some Exide models that will fit your vehicle. You need an Exide 75 size/model with the correct minimum CCA (cold cranking amps)

2.4 Litre engine - Exide 75 - 600 cold cranking amps

2.2 litre engine - Exide 75 - 525 cold cranking amps

Any large battery retailer will be able to help you select a battery suitabe for your car but many specialise in particular brands. Personally I prefer to select a heavy duty battery that is suitable for the vehicle and will offer more than the minimum required cranking amps.

New starter getting schliiiiing noise

sounds like the starter is not engaging the flywheel if the starter make noise like a power saw and the engine is not cranking may be the starter solenoid is not working I have seen this happen whit brand new starters now before you change your starter again ask some one to turn the key for you and see if the crankshaft or any otter pulley is rotating. if noting turn then replace the starter again and ask them to tested for you at the store and see if the gear comes out like it shut. If you see the crankshaft and pulleys rotating but the engine wont start you have otter problem if the engine hardly turn whit a fully charge battery or jump start from another car take all spark plugs off and tray again whit out the spark plugs if coolant comes out of the engine you have a floated cylinder and a blown head gasket. Note may be a good idea to change your battery clamps wile you are at it or at leas clean then using a wire brush bad contact on battery clamps causes to lose power doing start. hope can help you good luck. :)
