I have no heat blowing into my 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis.


Sounds like there is no coolant flowing INTO the heater core to me. There is usually a valve that opens to allow coolant to pass thru the heater core. some are electrical, some are vacuum operated. My suspicion is that you have a bad valve, or no power or vacuum supply to that valve.

No heat changed thermostat and just pulled the heater core which seems fine water from kitchen faucet flows thru both ways but cant find any control valve in the heater hoses to see if it is working


firs check both heater hoses are hot to the heater core after it is warmed up. If they are hot the heat cool door is not moving make sure the linkage for the actuator door is hooked up. If that isnt working test the module that moves it.If it is manually or vaccum operated there will be a heater valve inline the heater core hose. Make sure your vaccumm is supplied to the heater box from the engine. If it is staying on defrost you may be missing vaccum supply to the heater control. If it is electronically controlled the door actuator module is bad or not getting power. Sometimes the heater hand controls are the problem. sometimes the dash control separates and gives a vaccum leak.

Are you able to manually move the blend air door to the hot position. It may not be moving into position all the way. Confirm while sliding the lever back and forth that the cable is moving the door enough. This will take you loking at the location of the blend air cable mounting to the heater box.

My 2005 ford escape seems to have a heat issue. When the heat is turned on at it's hottest, it's hot, however when tuned down to the midway point, it cools down quite a bit, what may be the issue ?


I assume the vent door is loose or broken,and when it is set,maybe half way on the dial,the door moves to far closed.It is either that,or the control is bad.

Blend door functions, why no heat? exactly where is heat core?


First, there are two doors inside the heater. one door changes air flow between heat and A/c, the other changes where air is going (vent, floor, defrost etc). You did not mention if when you moved the door by hand, if you got heat when you did that, or, if the motor you removed had vacuum going to it and if it was functioning when you moved the dash control. Next, you don't need to cut holes in the box to check the core. If the hoses going to and from the core are getting hot, likely you have flow going through it. You can do a temporary visual check by replacing one hose with a clear plastic one and observing flow. (don't leave plastic in place as it will get soft when hot and will eventually fail.). You either have a vacuum problem not allowing blend doors to move, a second door that is jammed, an obstruction, internal or external (leaves, mouse nest etc) of the heater core.
If yours has a heater control valve that is installed on the heater hoses, check that as well (failure default is usually full on which will normally give you heat, but they can stick in the wrong position as well).
Last, I know removing the box is a real pain. Generally though, in the end you will need to remove it if the core needs changing. I'd first attempt to flush the core, independently of the system by removing both hoses at the engine and draining the core, then filling it with flush, waiting a half hour or so and then blowing it out both ways with a garden hose.

Replaced Heater Core. Replaced Thermostat, Removed Valve from heater Hose. still no heat.


When re-filling the radiator you need to keep the heater on high heat. If that has no effect, feel both heater hoses to make sure they are hot. Last, I hope you checked the blend doors for proper operation before you put it back together, often they will fail and not open or close properly. a bad vacuum motor that controls those doors can also be faulty.

Heater is blowing air but does not get hot


I looked at my friends 1997 mark viii for no heat. Found info on fixing it online. It involved taking the dash completely apart. Like six hours. The problem most lincolns had, seemed to be black plastic lever for mix door cracked. You can not see this lever, but can access the gray lever it works with, I moved the gray lever and got heat.He Got lucky and found his problem was different. Disconnect battery for a minute or so and this should reset computer for climate control. Seems if mix door was not moving due to some sort of computer glitch. Has heat for now. Hope this can help someone and its not a broke lever.

i would guess your heater blend door is sticking. It is a rectangular door that moves back & forth to allow either cold air or hot air or a mix out of your vents. This is not an easy fix. But first be sure you heater hoses have hot water flowing in and out of the heater core. Under the hood you should find 2 hoses going into your firewall on the passenger side.

I don't have my manual, but from memory there is a controller just below the radio this has a slide resistor that sends a signal to the heater mixer door controller, probably the heater mixing door controller isn't working, you can disconnect the linkage, behind the glove compartment, and manually move the lever to get heat, you might even be able to hook up a wire to make it possible to move this remotely. The controller is about $600 new, also get a manual from one of the auto stores or if you can afford it get a factory manual they are the best.
