Yes it does, if you hook that back up you should be back to having a nice bright light. That is one of the first things that I check before replacing a headlight is making sure the ground is still installed.

that is caused by:

swap left and right, if dim follows bulb, bingo weak bulb or wrong type bulb. buy matching blubs (same brand and P/n)
2: bad wiring to lamp. damaged wires, or connectors to same.
4: bad combo switch. (if low beams)
5: bad fuse or holder, corrosion , to either.

6: hackers, many hackers put in wrong lights. inspect it.

Headlight very dim one side

The ground for that side may be bad. Look around there for the headlight ground. When you find it, take it off and make sure the ground wire contacts clean, unpainted metal before reattaching. If it's not the ground, maybe the socket or the wiring to it is not correctly done.
Good luck.

I have no daytime running lights, one headlight is bright on low and high beam. The passenger side is dim at all times. I have changed the bulbs on both side but with no difference. I was told it could be...

the center wire that plugs into the socket is the ground. Always use a OHM meter to check. Then splice in a new wire and ground in to the sheet metal. That way you will receive brighter lights

Trying to fix the wiring on headlight

try checking the ground wire on the frame next to the head light if you have a volt meter measure voltage on the hot side, if there is 12 volts then measure it on the ground side, is it lower than 12 volts? if it is you have bad ground strap follow the wire it will be near the radiator core support and sand it off if that does not help then it's in the light switch.

My headlight will not work on my 2000 mercury sable. I have changed the bulb but it just stays real dim then goes out . it is only on the passenger side.

Check the ground connection for the lamp socket. If it looks good, try connecting a piece of wire from the engine (bare metal) to the lamp ground. Is it now bright? If so, the metal to metal connection of the fender to the body has probably rusted. Make the ground wire permanent.

I have a 01 sunfire an my pass side headlight is dim an i whichd the bulb an still is doin the same thing. i havent checkd the wires under the battery is those are corroded or damaged how could i fix that...

if the one headlight is dimmer than the other, it's most likely a grounding issue. Pull the headlight connector and follow the wires and find the one that is grounded to the body of the car. Make sure that the connection is tight, not cut or damaged, or corroded. You can cut out the damaged piece of wire and replace with a new one of similar size and color,
