Question about 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis

2 Answers

After taking my car to Jiffy Lube, it started to leak a lot of oil. I took it back to Jiffy Lube thinking they didn't put the filter or oil cap back on correctly. They told me there was a plug by the oil filter that was now gone and that was where the leaking was. Is that correct? If so, any idea how much it will cost me to fix this?

If there is a plug missing , did they show you? Is your oil pressure light or guage working? The only thing that I can think of that would be there is the oil pressure sending unit. Quit taking your car to these cheap places, I've heard to many horror stories. Most of the people that work there didn't know what a oil filter was before they started. Find a mechanic you can trust, ask a friend. You may pay a little more but it is well worth an HONEST mechanic.

What would cause my car to burn oil ,lots of it,no smoking tho

I had a similar problem after having my oil changed at jiffy lube. The problem was that they hadn't fully tightened the oil filter, so it was leaking oil when the engine was running. They did it to me on two cars. I don't go there anymore.

If you don't see smoke, you're not burning it. If you don't see it under where you park your car, it's not leaking when the car is parked.

ENGINE KNOCKS AND CHATERS AFTER OIL CHANGE - JIFFY LUBE PUT 5W30 OIL IN ENGINE.

You did not mention the year make and model, but unless it is a diesel I doubt the weight of oil would do it.
I would take it back as quick as possible before it locks up.
You have checked to make sure the oil level is full, right ?

Had a faulty oil filter put in by Jiffy Lube. Low oil pressure light came on after about 2000 miles into oil change. Jiffy Lube stated it was a faulty oil filter and replaced it. Drove off and light...

I can tell you that it sounds like someone is trying to take you for a ride.. I've been a mechanic for 28 years. And I've never heard of o rings going bad on a motor that only has 56000 miles. Change the oil filter again.. make sure that it's not a fram.. gram filters have been known to cause your oil pressure light come on. Hope this helps you.

I was driving this morning, no problems yesterday but did get my oil changed and a new air filter at jiffy lube yesterday. AS I was driving the car started to over heat. White smoke was coming from the...

Take it back to them. Most likely they spilled washer fluid or oil on a part that gets hot. Then when you drove the spill evaporated. They may have checked your antifreeze and improperly tightened the Radiator cap causing a leak.

Observe the temperature gauge for overheating. Some Lube places do more service than oil changes. You need to pressure test the Radiator for leaks. They could have simply overfilled the fluid.

Sensors went bad, at 60 k miles, is this covered in warranty

you need to take the vehicle to a real mechanic. Jiffy lube employes are not mechanics. Change your oil at jiffy lube and get mechanical work done at a reputable auto dealer or mechanic shop.

Jiffy Lube is notorious for taking things apart and not putting them back like their supposed to do. I USED to use them....try looking at the air filter, cause they always take it out to show you. I would bet its an airflow problem....please rate me...thanks
