Sounds like the torque converter is locked up.
You would have the same effect of a manual transmission with the clutch out and the trans in gear.

check park-neutral safety switch.

If you can jump start starter right at starter, then look at above or igntion switch. Try starting in neutral too. In case P-N switch is out of adjustment.

New starter new solenoid turn ignition switch to start and d starter does not disengage from d on position


VECHICLE NEED TO BE IN PARK OR NEUTRAL BEFORE STARTER WILL WORK. IF CAR START IN ANY OTHER GEAR TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL SWITCH IS FAULTY.

hard starting on hot engines is caused by just 2 things:

1. carbons in starter needs to be replaced.
2. ignition timing is overly advanced. timing should be recalibrated by your mechanic.

I changed the the starting solenoid in my 89 ford bronco, but it wont start. its not turning the starter over at all. What color is the ignition wire, and where dose it connect to? (is it the top or bottom...


try starting in neutral. It could be the neutral - park safety swithc.

Or, try jumping the solenoid at the starter. Make sure in park and brake applied.

Bronco died on road. Now it won't start. The


check the starter relay. , usually on left ibside fender wall. Makr sure vehicle is in neutral ot park. jump the terminal coming from the batt positive to the other large terminal on the otherside. This should spin the staeter. Now trty the key again. - Ned
