Just follow the exhaust. It is right down below after the exhaust manifold.

You need to find out which oxygen sensor needs to be replaced, your vehicle could have 2 or 3. Location of O2 sensor in maruti wagon r car 2007 model

the o2 sensors. there are a few sensors all depending on what size engine you have, there may be 2 or 4. the sensors are located in the exhaust system , they are screwed into exhaust pipes or the exhaust manifold, the way it works is the sensors are used to read exhaust readings, the cat-converter which cleans the exhaust has a sensor before it and after it.

look at the exhaust system, start at engine manifold and follow it down to muffler and as you follow it you will see sensors,
Here is a picture to help you locate them. good day.11_22_2012_2_58_08_pm.jpg

I have a 2002 6 cyl Mercury Cougar. I need to replace the o2 sensor... How would I do that?

The o2 sensor is located one top of the air intake pipe. All that you have to do is take the bolts out and unplug the o2 sensor and replace it. I hope my advise helps you.

2000 Subaru Outback Wagon (100K miles) with P0420 Code

I do not know for sure if this is the problem you are having, But, I have noticed that from 95 up to 2002 I have seen a lot of PO420 codes that have been just the sensor. I do not know if it was a weak sensor or just that program telling it that it is below threshold. I did notice that if the vehicles are run for a long trip at highway speed it goes out. I wish you luck and have a great day.

5 error cods on my 2002 Jetta GLS 1.8 Turbo Engine

P0420= Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1
P0300=Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301=Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0172=System Too Rich Bank 1
P2181=Cooling System Performance
you need to write these down,have someone clear the codes in the car,then go for short ride and recheck which if any code reappears.it's like domino's affect,one sensor can start a chain affect with the others.
