Use a coat hanger and go through grill and hook the hood latch. you can also lay under front of car with a few extensions and a rachet, and take out the bolts that hold hood latch. if both fail. remove grill if possible to get to hood latch. good luck !!

If you snapped the cable from the hood release then you can cut back the cable lining, with a pair of ****'s and pull the cable with a pair of plyer's and the hood will release. If the cable snapped by the hood latch, you can go underneath the front of the car behind the front bumper remove the panel and you should be able to get in their to release the hood.

Can't release the hood 2002 dodge neon

first, try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. or even after you've pulled on it. if that works, once open, adjust and lubricate the hood latch assembly. if it still won't open, and it's the cable and not the latch you'll have to replace it anyway, so instead of removing the grill, cut the cable behind the pull lever under the dash where you can reach it. then skin the outer cable insulation away from the actual steel cable exposing an inch or two of it. then holding the insulation and plastic housing with pliers, grab the steel cable itself with pliers and pull it to open the hood. then replace the cable. the further you can reach up under the panel the better your chances of getting past the broken part of the cable and avoid removing the grill. you might also be able to gain access from up under the car if you're lucky.

My 1998 Intrepid has a broken hood latch. When I pull on the inside latch, nothing happens. How can I open my hood, and fix this problem for the future ?

can you grab a piece of the cable from under dash?if so pull it and see if it will open.
if not you will have to try to get at latch from under car.
if you cant get at it find a reasonably priced body shop they are pros at getting stuff like that open
then get a new cable or pull handle or latch whichever it needs and replace it

Hood wont open on 1999 dodge durango

The cable to the hood is most likely broken. The hood can be opened from underneath by pulling the cable and replacement is not terribly difficult once the hood is open.

1998 Plymouth Neon--Hood Latch Repair

Have you tried lubricating, or spraying mechanism where hood latches in with WD-40 or similar, to see if latch is obviously releasing & may be slightly seized. is the handle & cable that you pull to open the hood appear slack or sloppy ?

Hood release cable is broken

Is there any part of the cable inside the cabin that you can pull with a pair of pliers? I suggest that you try that. You may need to disassemble it from the pull handle to make that work.
