Nissan Presea starts with a crunch

The engine starts with small crunching sounds, sounding like it was already going. Is this the starter motor? How do I remove it and can I fix it?
Car is Presea, 1995.

Thanks for your reply, I've since had it repaired, turned out it was and issue with the crank engaging too long, or not releasing properly. Apparently one of the few issues that crop up in these cars.

Most likely you are "over-starting" when you crank the engine, try to lessen the time you crank over, I own one and they start very well so be quick about it,

What does a crunch sound in the front right wheel mean?

Hi Cathy. It means something is worn out and going to fail. The most common cause is CV joints. Have them inspected. typically the right front is the issue. Other possibilities are wheel bearing, but the complaint is usually different, more a rumbling, than crunching.

When i try to start the car it makes a funny sound and wont start it sounds like something is not catching

Good indication of a bad starter. Is it just clicking or is it a grinding ugly noise?. The second is definately the starter.

You probably need a new mechanism.the crunching sound was probably the cable in the window mechanism getting tangled.

It does sound like a gear box issue. 1st and reverse do share some hardware inside. Have a good transmission repair person take a listen to it if you can.

Popping and crunching sounds from the front end axles when you take a curve

Your best bet would be to have the CV joints inspected. When they go bad they have a tendency to pop and crunch and will eventually fall apart if they are not replaced.
