Question about 1995 Nissan Pickup

1 Answer

I HAVE A 1995 NISSAN 2wd PICKUP. I HAVE NO SIGNAL LIGHTS, NO ODOMETER, NO HORN, NO INSIDE LIGHT, MATTER OF FACT NO GAUGES WORK INSIDE. I WAS CHANGING OUT THE ALTERNATOR AND DIDN'T DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE COMPLETELY IT SPARKED. I HAVE CHECKED ALL THE FUSES NONE ARE BLOWN. CHECKED ALL RELAYS AND BATTERY CONNECTIONS ALL LOOK GOOD, NO BURNED OUT CABLES OR WIRES INCLUDING CONNECTORS. MY TRUCK STILL CRANKS AND CAN DRIVE ON THE BATTERY. HEAD LIGHTS AND RADIO WORKS. THIS THE SECOND ALTERNATOR SINCE JANUARY THIS YEAR. FIRST ON WAS BAD. ANY IDEAS WHERE OR WHAT TO CHECK NEXT. COULD THIS ALTERNATOR ALSO BE BAD. NOTE THIS ALTERNATOR WAS PUT ON AFTER THE FACT.

I found that the fusable link had burned out. I replaced the wire on it and now everything is OK. Thank you for input but I was able to fix it this way.

By fuses I assume you are talking about inside the car?Under the hood, there is a box with larger fuses called a power distribution box.If one of those fuses were to blow,it would knock out many systems like you described. The fuses are made different than the ones inside your car. There are probably about 10 of them.If you have the owner's manual still,it would list the particular systems each one controls. That is what it is there for also.A primary protector to prevent all of those other system fuses from blowing. You end up blowing one instead of several.Good luck,Greg

1995 Nissan SE-v6 pickup no dashlight or rear running lights brake lights and turn signals still work. changed the tail light fuse. didn't help.

You still have a fuse shorted out/blown somewhere, get a test light and turn the lights on and test the fuses, if a fuse is blown you will have a light on one side of the fuse but not the other side. A 12 volt test light cost less than $5

I need to hook up a boat trailor Whats the color code for a 1995

I suspect that the 4 wire harness includes a ground, so you may not be able to connect both brake lights and turn signals, which are separate lamps on the pickup. You may need to get an adapter.

In any case, the color codes on the pickup are:

Tail lights -- pink/blue
Brake Lights -- green/yellow
Left turn signal -- gray/blue
Right turn signal -- gray/red
Ground -- black
