Question about 1998 Lincoln Navigator

1 Answer

Hi, I have a problem with the 4WD change on my Lincoln Navigator 1998 4WD. When i use the switch to change from 4x2 to 4x4 or the other two options, it will not make the change and when it does ( sometimes), it ´s stuck on it and i have to release it in the transmission itself! The mechanics here in the dominican Republic say, that has to be a faulty Relay headed behind the speed cluster. Is this correct and if so, where can i buy this relay? Thanks, mafri

My 1998 Navigator switched itself automatically to 4wd low and it does not respond to manually resetting the dial back . I have done this with the car stopped, in neutral and then tried driving inn reverse...

before you damage anything you should bring it in to a dealer they are more familiar with this than any other shop. might be a wire rubbed through and is grounding out or could be as simple as replacing your selector switch.does not seem too expensive at this point.

Where is the relay switch located on the 98 lincoln navigator for the turn signals and what is the relay switch

In older cars a relay or flasher switch was used for signals and hazards. These were round and typicly located in the fuse box under the drivers dash. Your car will probably just have a relay controled by the computer. The relay will be in the drivers fuse box. The turn silgnal switch may also be your problem. I hope this informaiton helps.
