After driving about 60 mph for 4-5 min. the engine looses power and the car will only run about 30 mph. What could cause this?

I think i have a solution or a good possibility. My 2001 Nissan GXE manual
transmission went from 75 mph. after we stopped and started the car back
up it would only go to 20 mph. After a week at a stumped mechanics
we took it to the dealer for a better computer read out. It is the TPS
throttle position sensor. It was not communicating to the computer and that
is why the first mechanic was not drawing anything faulty off the codes in
the first place. Please call if necessary. 620-960-1205.

Sounds like a power relay or breaker that is getting weak. Over time electrical components break down from heat. Without having a schematic cant tell you where to look!

That is a typical RPM at that speed for most 6-speed 4 cylinder engines. The reason for this is that they have a much lower power output at lower RPMs (due to lack of torque), and the engineers want for you to have SOME acceleration to get up little hills.

Fibrates at 55 to 60 mph

1) Have vehicle checked by a mechanic (with a tire balance machine) for proper balance & alignment of all 4 tires.

2) Also, check drive train underneath for a loose "universal joint" (there should 1 to 3 of them). If they're loose or wobbly, they need to be replaced. No more than 30 mins per joint & $8-10 each.

SOUNDS LIKE A BAD SPEEDOMETER if you can use an OBDII while driving and look for DTC output from speed sensor. possible loose connection can cause this as well

it sounds like the egr valve is sticking open a little and causing a vac. leak. this is a common problem with this many miles on vehicle.try disconnecting vac line going to egr and test drive and see if it still has the same problem but it might set ck engine light.you can clear the light by taking the battery loose or taking efi fuse out for about 30 seconds. i hope this will help you......good luck and let me know.........
