Should be on the back side of the oil pan about dead center. At least for the 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines. You will need a 19mm wrench or socket (if its the O.E. drain plug). Be careful when tightening the drain plug after draining the oil. The oil pan is aluminum and we replace a fair amount of them because the threads for the drain plug are stripped out. The drain plug only needs to be torqued to 22 ft-lb.

Did you have the oil leak prior to changing the oil? The "change engine oil" indicator is just a service reminder to get the oil changed. You need to reset it. Call your local dealer or check your owner's manual for instructions on doing this. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does it take specialized equipment to do alignment on a 2005/06 VW jetta? Special equipment for brakes as well?

yes for alignment--requires alignment rack and system that only shops have.

for brakes, you can do it with regular tools, but it's easier with brake tools.
