I was told that some of the cars when shipped to the states wound up with bent struts. It is from how they were secured during shipping. The only thing you can do is replace your struts and make sure your mounting points are not compromised. I bought a used 04 and could have bought another bit I had them put on a lift and checked for the rub and one had it and one didn't. Bought the one that didn't have the run and upset the dealer because now he knows about it and has to spend money to fix a car that is on his lot Good luck

On a 2004 Dodge Intrepid, where is the strut tower located?

Open the hood, look in the back corners, just in front of the firewall. You will see two cylindrical shapes with three bolts coming out the top (possibly some other items attached). These house the tops of the front struts, called the strut towers. In the trunk are similar towers for the rear struts, but they are normally covered by the trunk liner and not as apparent.

Shutter noise after having front struts replaced

I think I would be looking at incorrect wheel bearing adjustment or brake calipher mount loose. There would have been no reason to touch the steering other than to undo the ball joints to allow strut removal

2004 TL thumping noise on the front passenger end

Sounds like worn suspension components. First, look at the tie-rods beind the wheel, If theres excessive play or real easy to move inplace, than it's bad. Also look at the bushings along the top and bottom of the independant links. Also, check the strut, its the cheapest repair and is most likely the problem.

Front struts replacement

Jack up and secure front end of your vehicle,Take off two front wheels. Loosen to bolt on the bottom of struts (Its a bolt and nut). Remove clip that holds brake hose on to strut and remove hose. DO NOT OPEN BRAKE LINE OR DISCONNECT FROM CALIPER. Remove bolts and remove bottom of strut from knuckle/Hub assembly. Then loosen nuts on strut tower( on top of fender inside hood) (3) nuts, mark exact locations of each nut on strut mount area on upper fender weld. Make sure to hold strut on the bottom so it doesn't drop down on caliper and knuckle or on you possibly.YOU WILL NEED A SPRING COMPRESSOR to compress spring so you can take struts off. MAKE SURE THAT SPRING IN COMPRESSED/SQUEEZED WITH A STRUT COMPRESSOR. Then loose center nut on strut tower(may be covered with a circular rubber cover) If nut spin around with out getting loose use vise grips to hold strut rod ONLY TO REMOVE STRUT NOT TO INSTALL. if you use vise grips to install it will damage strut. When nut is off, remove strut and reinstall new one transfer all rubber boots and cushions from old strut. Good Luck thanks for using FIX-YA.com contact me if you need more help.

2004 Acura TL front end problem

You may not need the entire strut, just the part that serves as a shock absorber. The term strut refers to a complete assemby with coil spring and a central shock absorber. When their seals fail completely, whether gas or fluid filled, they are just a piston in a cylinder with nothing to damp their travel so they can slam at both ends.
American made 'shocks' were once only really effective for ~20k miles but both foreign and domestic have improved a great deal but one of yours may have left the factory less than perfect.
Shop the parts before you let the car go to anyone to see if they are scalping you or only marking their cost up a little.
