Have your mechanic check the brake booster. I have had this problem one time before. the booster wasn't working correctly, small hole in the diaphram. it acted as if there was a large vacuum leak letting the engine rev up, but only when the brakes were applied.

Thks Randy very kind of you to reply.
my car is a 2004 Automatic. My mechanic is of opinion that if there was a hole it would happen all the time. As u know the engine is computerised and he has computer to read all faults on engine. He now thinks the gearbox which is automatic is also computerised. He is going to check that and see if the fault is there, next Monday. Will let you know. Many thanks once again Peter.

My Nissan quest 2004 won't accelerate in drive will in neutral then loses all power

if you have it in neutral then the car will not accelerate
just the engine will increase in rpms
if it is a manual and in gear and you increase engine rpm but the car is not moving, it is more that likely a clutch master cylinder or cable problem
if automatic , run the fault codes and check for a problem torque converter clutch servo/solenoid problem

Tip

Avoiding a runaway with you Toyota

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry and I have tested to see if I can put the car in neutral at any speed and I can. So write yourself a note and place it on you dash or steering wheel or anywhere it is visible in case of panic. If it starts to accelerate push in neutral, not park, in neutral pull over and shut it off. The engine should not race itself to death they should have a rev limiter to take care of that. Try it out on your car so you feel comfortable with shifting into neutral if it tries to get away from you.

Was in heavy traffic uphill in our toyota corolla verso (automatic) and after a while kept getting a beeping noise coming from the dash every time i put my foot on the accelerator. Was it overheating in...

There are times, such as approaching a roundabout, turning into a junction or coming down a hill when I have slowed down and then want to accelerate away again. When I put my foot on the accelerator, the car acts as though it has gone into neutral or that the clutch is slipping. I have tried watching the display to see what gear it is in when it does this, but can't see a pattern.

I have tried driving in ES mode but it made it worse.

Also, when in automatic mode, I sometimes get a bleeping noise at low speed but the manual says this happens in manual mode!

Has anyone else had these problems and found a way round them or do you think I should take the car back? I have done 2500 miles.

Loud Vibration / Sound Under Acceleration And Starting Engine.

Get the engine mounts checked. A bad mount may allow part of the engine to lie on a body or frame part, allowing engine vibrations to become very loud. Torquing of the engine (under load) can cause the same type problems.

What are the functions of Resume &Coast buttons in steering wheel

If set at a specific speed and you have to slow down by hitting the brakes, The brakes turn off the cruise control. Pressing resume automatically turns the cruise control back on and accelerates to the previous speed setting. You can also use it to accelerate and by releasing it the new speed will be set.
