Check the socket. you can some times bend the prongs inside of it to make better contact wit the bulb. Also if you have an volt meter you can check to see if you have power in the socket.

Look for a burned out socket or burned wiring around the light area.. If these two things are ok then you will have to go under the dash and check the brake light switch with a multimeter for continuity. The power needs to come in when the switch is activated it then go out. Replace the brake light switch if you are not getting power to it.

Try this solution.... Check and clean the bulb socket of the said prob., squeeze a little WD40 will do, sometimes oxidation occures on the contact point of the base of the BULB & socket! Check the wiring by opening the cover at the back of the tail light assembly and look for wires that might be disconnected, ground wire usually at fault.
Hope that help u out!

My head light on my 1998 Chevy malibu went out but when I replace the bulb it still wont work

When you replaced bulb, all wiring and bulb connector looked good,no corrusion, wires not burned or strayed. With dim lights, means just a little power going to light bulb.Did you check the fuse in fuse box, could be a loose connectoion, check both fuses, left and right headlight.swap them out and see,if fuses are good then,it may be the headlight switch, which cost the most. Here's a link on how to replace. Here's the part.

1997 Acura 3.5 RL right brake light not working (all other rear lights - both left and right work). Changed bulb (two separate bulbs) and still not working. Checked all fuses under dash and hood. Is...

The problem is the socket. Remove the bulb and bend the tabs in the socket so they make contact with the bulb. If this doesn't work you will have to replace the socket. A wire is broke and they usually break at or in the plug.

Im looking for the fuse for the right tail light

You do not have a separate fuse for each side, if the left side works, replace the bulb in the right side that isn't working.

The high beams work but the low beams dont

Check the fuses. If both low-beams went out at exact same time, it is probably the fuse (hopefully not a wiring short).
If they went out with a couple days or weeks of each other, it could just be the bulbs. They typically have very close lifespans and if they were installed at the same time, could burn out near the same time.
If the fuse is good, take the bulbs out. Look for a break in the filament.
Sometimes a fuse can break right at the base and you can't see it and sometimes a bulb can burn out without breaking the filament. If you can't see a break in either, start by replacing the fuse. (You can even take a same sized fuse out of a non-vital electronic (maybe radio, or power windows) and put it in the low beam spot.) If they work, there's the problem. Replace the missing fuse and your good. If not, then replace the bulbs.

96 contour. left tail light, 1 and 2nd break light are out.

Everything works, more or less, so you know that the switches and fuses are good. That means that you've got either bulb problems or power/ground problems. First, try swapping the bulbs around to see if the "bad" lights will work with the known "good" bulbs in them. If so, you just need to replace some bulbs. If not, check the sockets inside and out for corrosion, clean them (wire brush, steel wool, sandpaper, etc.) if necessary, and use a voltmeter or automotive tester to make sure that you have power and ground to each socket. The fast flash on the turn signal is just an indicator that a bulb is out.

1999 Ford F150 Left Tail Light Out

1st make sure you got the right bulb. You will need a test light, which you can purchase at walmart for 3.00 $ Check the bulb holder for power, if their is power than the issue has to do with the bulb contact. The holder may need to be replaced, which you can get at the dealer ship.. Price ? I'm not sure...if no power you'll have to check the wiring and see if you can find a break in the wiring.

Bad break light

Have you checked the bulb on the side? Remove the bulb and check the filament, replace if nesacary. If it is not the bulb then it is a wiring issue on that side, and it's not a fuse because if the fuse was blown neither side would work.

Hope this helps

Do you own a test light? Check for power at wires behind socket? Clean socket good , check contact spots for bulb & clean any rusty side of the socket with emery cloth, or sandpaper, for good contact also.
