The Windstars over the years that I have owned, 1 had this happen. According to the owners manual, you are suppose to take it to the dealership. I did this and it ended up being a transmission job.

You have an issue with your transmission plain and simple and the best course of action is to either take it to the dealership and have it fixed or investigated or take it to a transmission shop for maintenance.

Light keep coming on it self

When ever you get any light on your dash, you
have the car checked for codes within 24 to 48 hours
or stop using it

Only then, will you know what component, in what system
has failed & if you should continue to drive until repairs
can be made

This procedure has been in place for 31 years, since we went
to OBD 1 & 2-- federal mandated electronic systems on all vehicles
to protect the environment

O2 sensor, catalyst, and erg valve all coming up not ready. Had to jump battery 1 day ago, but still coming up not ready. Any suggestions?

Keep driving it for a week. It's called a drive cycle and there is no way you can do one in the city or anywhere. The self diagnostics will eventually see what it wants and turn itself to read ready. Be patient. Bob

Last time I drove the truck, it was very shaky when idling at stop lights. Now, when I start the engine, light grey smoke shoots out of the muffler and it keeps coming out until I turn off the engine. I'm...

If this light grey smoke comes out when you start the engine, then when you drive for a while vanishes, means you have Oil leakage trough valves O-Rings! you can't do it your self... you should take it to a shop. Usuall this happens when you park for longer than 2 - 3 hours, then start engine (depending on how sever is the case).
If smoke keeps coming out all the time, means your engine needs an overwhole in a good shop

Loud thump coming from dashboard heater motor at start up and shu

There is air in your engine cooling system. Check your coolant level at the radiator and make sure you do it when it's cold, don't want you to get burnt from hot antifreeze. Add a 50/50 water/antifreeze mix if the radiator is low and place the radiator cap back on, but only on the first click and top off the coolant over flow canister with the 50/50 mix also. Start the engine and place the heater on high and go for a test drive to ensure you get the engine warmed up to allow the thermostat to open up. After you get back from your test drive before you turn the engine off, close off the radiator cap to the second click. Make sure you wear gloves or have a cloth so you don't burn your self due to the hot radiator cap. If the cap is not hot, then you have not circulated all of the coolant through the engine. This should get the air out of the system and keep an eye on your coolant level in the over flow tank and top off as needed according to the proper level indicated on the tank it self. Good luck and keep me posted.
