'99 Daewoo Lanos knocking sound in front wheel

I have a '99 Daewoo Lanos which I am generally very happy with and is a reliable little car, however I have developed a bit of a problem in the front left wheel. When I drive over any sort of bump or pot hole in the road there is a knocking sound from the front left wheel area which is getting progressively worse. Does anybody have any ideas what the fault may be ?
Thanks
Andy

Hi we live in lanzarote and are thinking of buying a second hand daewoo lanos with 49k on the clock privately owned not a hire car can anybody advise as to reliability of this model , much appreciated...

Few problems, check for noisy engine and uneven tyre wear, generally not a bad cheap car but they depreciate quicker than apple falling from a tree! So make sure it is a good deal.

Good luck davelee

2001 daewoo lanos front passenger bearing

Remove the wheel ,then track end ,brake caliper support ,the pinch bolt that holds housing to the strut ,lower track control arm swivel.pull off and place on bench .knock the centre hub piece out and on the inside of the housing is a big circlip that holds it in .Then take to a garage and have the old one pressed out and the new one pressed in.stripping shouldnt take more than 35mins ,visit to garage for the pressing?? allow 2 days --- refitting max half hour

Is this rumbling wheel bearings or transmission?

If the sound is all the time, no matter what you are doing then it is the Transmission going bad. CV Joints, Wheel bearing will only make the noise when in rotation.. Also remember that this is a front wheel drive car, so it will throw you off thinking it is the wheel bearings or CV joints due to the front wheel drive

Rubbing noise on drivers side coming from wheel

Could be a bad bearing or a brake dragging. Roll the car slowly with the engine off. Walk beside the car and if you hear the noise, you'll be able to tell more about it if the engine is off. Try pushing on the brake pedal as the car is being pushed and see if the noise changes.
If it does, then you can eliminate one cause.
