This sounds like an ignition timing problem, or a poorly performing ignition part. My best guess would be the coil pack if the timing is OK.

Well thats the obvious points covered!! I am afraid that after that it is likely to get expensive. I am fairly well convinced that its electrical so my next step would be to go through the relevant parts of the engine managment systerm but that means using someone who has the relevant diagnostic kit and in my experiance its usually around £40 for the connection and diagnosis and the price goes up from there.

The only other thing that occurs is to check the fuel delivery. Are the injectors working correctly. I assume there is no air lock in the fuel line , or if you have run the tank low/empty it may be muck in the petrol or a partially blocked filter.

The problem is that the spark and fuel are joining at just the wrong time hence the problem.Hope that helps.

Does 2001 Kia Sportage needs wires for a tune up?

The ignition wires break down over time to to the high voltage they carry as well as underhood engine temperatures. It is a good idea to replace them during spark plug change to avoid any chance of misfires

Gas smell

I had a similar problem with a 2000 Kia Sportage. The check engine light came on all the time. Part of the problem seemed to be the fuel cap having high pressure. Then one fine day I smelled gas fumes from the rear of the vehicle. After removing the fuel pump cover in the rear behind the seats, I found gas coming from a hose from the tank. I then (sometime later) I found a crack in another hose. The hose was from the filler neck. It caused a lack of vapor pressure and a smell. The check engine light now was off.

Is chasses on kia sportage 2001 model strong

about as strong as folded 1mm thick sheet metal can be. Most cars now do not have a chassis but are uni-construction which means that the whole body is the chassis and if you are planning in fitting a tow bar to the car then get a tow bar fitter to do the job with an approved tow unit that has been designed to spread the stress over a large section of the car.

Sportag 2001 120000 km - drink 6 km for 1 liter ? what i have to chek ? miko

If there is a serious loss of power, look at the exhaust manifold. There should be a flange where the exhaust expands out. This is the "pre cat" and has tendency to plug and create fuel consumption issues and power issues. What else is going on with it?

Ford focus 1.6 zitec petrol, engine warning light flashing, engine chugging, very high fuel consumption, fumes smell when stationary, exhaust seems ok, recently change speed sensor and coil pack?

try the air filter first and the intake.the spark plugs then and after all go to a garage for checking compression timing and the head gasket.
