Hi. P0501 means there is a problem with the Vehicle Speed Sensor. VSS is not sending data to the ECU. The ECM receives vehicle speed information from the right front wheel speed sensor, presuming your Santa Fe isn't equipped with ABS. Check the tone wheel on the axle and check the wiring going to the sensor, especially for being chewed by rodentia. These are far more common
problems than problems with the sensor itself.

All the best!

This is likely the speed sensor on the transmission which tells the ECU how fast you are going. Should be an easy fix.

Here try this solution...You posted P1479. ...When this fault is stored in conjunction with misfire and system lean fault codes check the PCV system and any other possible sources of engine mechanical vacuum leaks. Although PCV failure is most common on the 1.8T engines equipped with the auxiliary vacuum pump, any engine with low vacuum can cause that electric pump to run excessively - resulting in this fault code. Good luck.

My engine light comes on in my 2004 hyundai sante fe why

the only way you are going to find the answer to this is to take your vehicle to a retail auto parts store and ask them to hook up a scanner to your OBDII port to read for fault codes-write the codes down and come back on here for answers to your problem(s)-this is done for free at virtually all chain store.

Engine code PO500 / PO501 /PO529 for santa fe 2004

P0500 and po501 are error codes indicating that no signal is being received from the speed sensor. he speed sensor is located on the output of the transmission and its job is to measure the speed of the output shaft. Check the continuity of the wire from the sensor to the ECU. Check that the connection is securely attached and that the pins are free of dirt and corrosion. To check the function of the speed sensor: If the socket has two pins it is probably a magnetic sensor and one pin is ground and the other should have an output AC voltage in region 0.2 to 2 volts. If the socket has three pins it is probably a hall effect sensor with one pin at reference voltage (5 volts), one pin at ground and the third with a a DC voltage in region of 0.5 to 1.5 volts.
The other code, P0529, indicates that the air circulation fan inside the car is giving intermittent performance, this could be due to warn motor brushes or a loose connector.

Turn off check engine light

Hi there... You can turn the check engine light off by disconnecting the battery for 1-2 minutes and then reconnecting it. The only thing is that if there is a problem, the check engine light will not turn off. Your best course of action for this is to take it somewhere like autozone and have the vehicle scanned for codes to find out what is wrong. When they scan it they can also erase the codes but then again if there is a problem the light will come back on until the problem is repaired. Have the vehicle scanned and post the codes. We can help you from there. Hope this helps you out
