How do i replace a fuel pump in a 2002 chevy venture

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank and hopefully it is on empty as they are heavy to drop down when a lot of fuel is in them.Disconnect the fuel tank electrical connector which is on the drivers side under the van between the rocker panel and the tank. Next disconnect the fuel filler hose connections at the tank and then the 3 straps that hold the tank up (15mm bolts).Once the tank drops a foot, reach in on top of the tank and disconnect the fuel and vent lines. There is a tag on the wires at the tank that you may need to get the correct replacement pump.

You need to remove the fuel tank form the car, it is held in place by two steel straps and of course the filler neck and the wiring and fuel lines. You do need to have the car as high as poss of the ground and on safety jack stands. You will need a GM fuel line release tool, which you can buy at most auto parts stores like Napa. You will need a helper to lower the tank since there is no way to easily drain it if it is full. BE SAFE, THERE IS AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD HERE, ALWAYS USE SAFETY STANDS TO SUPPORT THE CAR ONCE RAISED, NEVER A BUMPER JACK OF ANY KIND.

Not sure but I believe the fuel pump in inside the fuel tank. Probably a good job for a pro. If you want to try doing it yourself,
Put the car up on stands, drain the tank and support it with a floor jack loosen thte straps that hold it in place disconnect the fuel filler at the gas door and lower it enough to disconnect the wires to the tank then you can roll it out and do what you need to do.

How to install a fuel pump on a 1996 chevrolet cavalier

Siphon most of the gas out of the tank. Raise car safely. Loosen tank straps and drop tank enough to disconnect fuel lines, electrical wires, and filler neck, then drop tank to the ground with the help of an assistant.Unscrew the metal retaining collar using a brass punch to avoid sparks then remove the fuel pump assembly

It is handy to have a good floor jack and some wood blocks to help in holding the tank while you remove the wires, hoses, etc. Reverse the procedure to install. I hope this helps you.

How do you replace a fuel tank on a 2002 cavalier 2.2L

drain the exisiting tank down or run the vehicle to almost empty, disconnect the fuel line at the tank if possible while still hanging to body, if not, remove straps(this is why you want it almost empty) and gently lower the tank down and remove any remaining fuel lines you may need special fuel line disconnect tools to remove the fuel lines and possibly a repair kit to fix the very common fuel filter steel line rusting solid to the fuel filter.

I am trying to remove my fuel tank from a 96 chevy suburban and replace the fuel pump

ok i'm going to guess that you have a gasoline engine with a side tank like in a pickup truck. if you have a diesel let me know, things might be a little different. here's the step by step for a gas side tank. before you start, disconnect the battery negative cable.
1. drain the fuel from the tank (they don't tell you how, just get as much out as you can)
2.raise and safely support vehicle (get it high enough that you can get under it to work on it)
3.loosen the fuel neck hose at fuel neck and disconnect filler neck from tank tank and remove tank support straps and insulator strips
5.remove frame mounted bracket
6.lower fuel tank shield
7.lower fuel tank enough to gain access to fuel and electrical connections
8.disconnect fuel feed and vapor hoses
9.disconnect electrical connectors
10.remove fuel sender assembly and seal ring
now to install new tank
1.install NEW seal ring and install sender
2.raise tank enough to connect fuel feed /vapor hoses and electrical connector
3.raise tank fully
4.install fuel tank shield
5.connect fuel tank filler neck and tighten clamp
CAUTION tighten fuel strap fasteners in steps, alternating between straps, until proper torque is reached. failure to properly follow this step can cause bottom of tank to deform. fuel gauge may read improper level if this occurs
6.install fuel tank brackets and insulator strips
torque nuts to 115 in-lbs
7.install fuel tank filler cap
8.connect battery negative cable
9.turn ignition switch off and on and check for leaks
it's pretty much the same for rear tank, just different location, may have off-road shield in back and torque spec is 47 ft-lbs, not 115 in-lbs. you still have to alternate when you torque straps or you risk deforming tank. hope that helps
