Be careful............if the engine you want to fit is made by VM, these have individual cylinder heads. In Europe they have given
a heap of trouble and have to be replaced when they overheat.
If you have a friend who speaks Spanish, get him/her to surf the net and have him/her translate some of the stuff I've read about here in Spain.
I am looking for a Grand Cherokee and have been advised to look for the 2.7 model engine which is a derivative of the older Mercedes engine.........they last forever and spares are easy to get.

If the fluid is up -
it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..

Your SUV is really giving you a hard time, lol. Sorry but I've had those days too.
I would try to check if you have blocked EGR passages. If ok check for restricted MAP sensor vacuum hose/passage or restricted exhaust. I know you replaced the CAT but if the muffler is blocked then there would still be a restriction. Also check the wiring and connection to the MAP sensor.

Sends a signal related to the rail pressure as a voltage to the ECM. 3 wire connector :
Also check Engine coolant temp sensor and wiring. Engine coolant to manifold temp should not differ by more than 5 deg C either way after 8 hours of no operation. I have found the same symptom on these diesels with fuel supply problems. Operate the priming pump (on top of the fuel filter) until it becomes diffycult to push down before starting or checking anything else.

Testimonial: "Thanks Suzman, We actually managed to get it going....The only problem remaining is a rough idle until its warmed up and sometimes stalls until warm. "
