Did the old motor run? Is this a used motor? Did you hear this motor run before you installed it? Have you tried running it with the exhaust unbolted from the manifold?

Never heard motor run but confident it did. I have not tried disconnecting exhaust but am willing to try whatever it takes. Last time I got it running it was rough sounded like it was firing in wrong order then heard a pop an now sounds like no compression when its turning over.

Is this a 2.2 or 2.4? What was wrong with the old motor?

I took my motor out of a 2003 sunfire and installed in a 2004 sunfire, ran good in other car but is flooding mad in the 2004 ,puzzled

Usually a flooding problem is a shorted fuel injector or a leaking fuel pressure regulator. Does it happen if the injectors are unplugged ?

I have a 96 sunfire that misfires and breaks up when it gets over 4000 rpms. It has 150 psi on every cylinder, the timing is right, has good fuel pressure, good plugs and wires, changed all the sensors,...

have you checked your fuel pressure @ 4000 rpms under load going down the road ?.... if good my next step would be ignition module if it has one under the coil packs , not too familiar witrh eco techs

I have a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity-2.8 multi-port engine. I have replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filter, put a new distributor cap on, replaced the spark plugs and new wires. Changed the air and oil...

Sounds like something getting warm/hot as engine warms up. Could be the MAP sensor, Coil/Coil pack, Ignition Switch(not the key cylinder), or possibly the Oxygen Sensor.

Next time it does this, pull a plug wire out of the coil pack and hold it close to the tower, and have someone crank the engine to see if your still getting a spark.
Could also be a loose connector on the throttle body injection, or a broken wire.

I have a 96 Pontiac sunfire GT with the 2.4 engine it has a super bad misfire I have replaced the map sensor, plugs, coil pack, fuel rails. what elsa could be causeing this promblem

i`m assuming this is a dohc motor.have you checked the ignition module and the connections at the module.its located on the cover where the electrical connector fastens to could also be a jumped timing chain possibly by a bad chain tensioner or worn out chain.

93 Chev.c1500 won't kick over

It could be the temp sensor switch. Fuel injected engines (most GM models) use the temp sensor as the choke sensor as well. I had a Buick that did the same thing and replaced temp sensor and worked fine thereafter.

1998 Chevy tahoe Hard to start when cold

replace your MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure) the map sensor is the computer for your fuel pressure regulator telling how much pressure. Unless your tahoe runs like **** going up hill than it inevitably your fuel pump

Vehicle runs rough and seems to be flooded

Assuming it has a 3.1 V-6, it could be any # of failures. Bad plug wires, ignition coils, control module (under coil packs), crankshaft position sensor, map sensor, throttle position sensor, egr valve, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injectors, engine coolant temperature sensor, vacuum leaks; have it scanned for trouble codes to help in diagnosing! If you think it is just over fueling (flooding),look at fuel pressure regulator or coolant temp sensor ( when they fail the computer thinks its always -40 F causing it to over fuel). A bad map sensor can cause the same. Hope this helps. Thanks in advance for rating me!

The truck won't start, Fuel pump is a year old, just changed out heat sensor, just changed spark plugs- truck will start when chemical is sprayed into carb looking thing. Also will start when truck is...

Check that the Idle air controller is not faulty, disconnect it and start the truck again, if the truck starts (running poorly) then replace the IAC.

96 sunfire dies after 4 or 5 miles

if none of those worked, try the fuel filter. some times it can clog. when you stop the stuff falls too the bottom and then when you start it is clogs it back up so it wont run. then you have to wait for it to fall again.
