Leaking bottom radiator hose


Yes, you can do it! First, just check if the clamp on the end of the hose where it connects to radiator is just loose and needs tightening. That may be all it needs to stop the leak. When your new radiator was installed, sometimes the clamp may not have been tightened enough. If the clamp is just like a wire clamp and can't be tightened, buy a good screw clamp and fit it on. If that is not the case, you may need to pull off the lower radiator hose to investigate. Of course, to remove hose, you need to drain the radiator first. The other end of the hose goes to an inlet fitting to the water pump on the front of the engine. It will also have a clamp that you loosen or remove to pull hose off that fitting.
How it works is hot coolant in the engine is pushed by the water pump into the upper radiator hose and goes down through the radiator for cooling it and then back into the engine through the bottom radiator hose. The water pump constantly circulates the coolant through the engine to the radiator and back into the engine through the lower radiator hose.
I would bet you just have a loose fitting hose. See if you can tighten it first.

2000 saturn ls1 dash lights up, head lights and radio work, but won't turn over. Doesn't make a sound. If I get it jumped it stays running until I shut it off.


check for a loose or corroded connection on the battery, clean the clamps and pattery posts.
make sure the clamps are securely tightened on the posts and that the wires are not loose or corroded at the clamp. alos check for loose or damaged ground wires coming from the battery or the teminal / clamp

YEP SHIFT LINKAGE LOOSE OR WORN NEED ADJUSTMENT.ADJUST THE SHIFT LINKAGE BY POSITION THE SHIFT LEVER IN NEUTRAL .REMOVE THE REAR TUNNEL COVER IN FRONT OF THE REAR SEAT.PULL THE RUBBER DUST COVER FORWARD ON THE SHIFT ROD.LOOSEN THE CLAMP BOLT ON THE SHIFT ROD.MOVE THE TRANSMISSION SELECTOR SHAFT ALL THE ITS LEFT STOP,KEEPING IT IN NEUTRAL.WITH THE TRANSMISSION STILL IN NEUTRAL . MOVE THE GEARSHIFT ROD TO THE RIGHT TO ITS STOP.TIGHTEN THE CLAMP BOLT TO 18 FT LBS.TEST THE SHIFT LEVER PLAY SHOULD BE THE SAME IN ALL GEARS IN ALL DIRECTIONS.

When starting sounds like exaust is hitting body also when driving over bumps on road


Possible that the exhaust connection glands are worn out or the clamps are loose so that the exhaust is hanging down more than desired. Hence the reason that it is hitting on low ground clearance.
Please check from the underside, remove or tighten the exhaust clamps.

Remove and replace Front Sway bar


Hello ggagne.
Here is the procedure.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the left tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Remove the pinch bolt from the lower intermediate steering shaft
  4. Loosen all insulator clamp attaching bolts.
  5. Place a jack stand under the center of the rear frame cross member.
  6. Remove the rear frame-to-body bolts.
  7. Lower the rear of the frame just enough to gain access to the stabilizer shaft.
  8. Remove the insulator clamp bolts and the clamps from the frame.
  9. Remove the insulators from the stabilizer bar.
  10. Remove the stabilizer bar links from the control arms.
  11. Pull the stabilizer shaft rearward.
Installation
  1. Insert the stabilizer shaft to the left side of the vehicle. Important: DO NOT tighten the stabilizer link nut at this time. The weight of the vehicle must be supported by the control arms such that you can obtain the vehicle design trim heights before tightening the link nut.
  2. Loosely install the stabilizer shaft link at the control arm.
  3. Install the insulators on to the stabilizer bar.
  4. Connect the insulator clamps to the frame.
    • Tighten the stabilizer shaft bracket bolts to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) .
  5. Raise the frame into position while you guide the steering shaft onto the gear.
  6. Install the new frame-to-body attaching bolts.
  7. Remove the jack stand.
  8. Install the pinch bolt and tighten.
  9. Install the left tire and wheel assembly.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Support the weight of the vehicle by the control arms.
  12. Tighten the stabilizer link nut.
    • Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)

How to change radiator


Radiator REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Cirrus, Sebring Convertible, Stratus and Breeze CAUTION
Do not open the radiator draincock or remove the radiator cap when the cooling system is hot and under pressure. This can cause serious burns from hot, pressurized coolant. Allow a sufficient amount of time for the cooling system to cool down before opening up the system. NOTE: The radiator uses plastic tanks. Plastic tanks, while stronger than brass, are subject to damage by impact, such as slipped wrenches. Use care when working around these radiators.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the left strut tower. The ground cable is equipped with an insulator grommet, which should be placed on the stud to prevent the negative battery cable from accidentally grounding.
  2. Remove the air inlet resonator.
  3. Place a large drain pan under the radiator drain plug. Drain and properly contain engine coolant. NOTE: To open the drain plug on models equipped with a 2.5L engine, use a 3⁄8 inch drive extension 3 inches (7.6cm) long and a 19mm socket with universal joint. The drain plug can also be accessed by removing the right front fog light in the front lower bumper fascia.
  4. Remove the upper radiator crossmember as follows:
    1. Remove the push-in mounting fasteners securing the front fascia/grille unit to the radiator support crossmember.
    2. Remove the mounting bolts securing the support braces to the bottom of the crossmember.
    3. Remove the bolts securing the crossmember to the radiator closure panel.
    4. Remove the mounting nuts attaching the hood latch to the radiator crossmember. Remove the crossmember from the vehicle. Fig. 2: Using a small flat bladed tool, pry up the center portion of the plastic front grille/fascia retainers, then pull them out 90903p02.jpg

      NOTE: The following step and associated photos describe original type hose clamps. Some vehicles may instead have a worm gear type clamp, which can be loosened with a screwdriver.

  5. Using pliers, compress the tabs on each hose clamp, then slide the clamp a few inches away from the hose end. Carefully twist and pull the hoses from the radiator.
  6. Disconnect the engine block heater wire, if equipped.
  7. Disconnect and plug the transaxle cooler lines, if equipped.
  8. Remove screw attaching support bracket for external transaxle cooler lines to the left side of the radiator, if equipped. Fig. 7: Relieve the tension from the hose clamp, then disconnect the upper coolant hose at the radiator 90903p09.jpg

  9. Remove the screw attaching the support bracket for air conditioning lines from the right side of the radiator. Remove the support bracket.
  10. Unplug the cooling fan wiring.
  11. Remove the air conditioning condenser mounting screws. Use care when working around the air conditioning condenser. Avoid bending the condenser inlet tube. Care should be taken not to damage the radiator or condenser cooling fins or water tubes during removal. It is not necessary to discharge the air conditioning system to remove the radiator.   12. Carefully remove the radiator from the vehicle. The cooling fan/shroud assembly can be separated from the radiator at this time. To install:
  13. If separated, install the cooling fan/shroud assembly to the radiator unit.
  14. Lower the radiator and fan module (assembly) into position. Seat the radiator assembly lower isolators in the mount holes provided.
  15. Install the air conditioning condenser mounting screws and tighten to 45 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  16. Connect the radiator hoses and tighten the hose clamps to 22 inch lbs. (2.5 Nm). Be sure the hoses do not interfere with the accessory drive belt, and be sure the upper hose clamp does not interfere with the hood liner.
  17. Connect the cooling fan wiring.
  18. Connect the transaxle cooler lines to the radiator, if equipped.
  19. Install the upper radiator crossmember as follows:
    1. Place the radiator crossmember into the vehicle in proper position.
    2. Install the hood latch to the radiator crossmember. Install and tighten the hood latch mounting nuts.
    3. Install and tighten the crossmember-to-radiator closure panel mounting bolts.
    4. Install and tighten the mounting bolts that secure the support braces to bottom of the radiator crossmember.
    5. Install the push-in mounting fasteners holding the front fascia/grille unit to the radiator crossmember.
  20. Connect the engine block heater, if equipped.
  21. Install the air inlet resonator.
  22. Fill the cooling system with the correct type and amount of engine coolant.
  23. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and allow it to idle until it reaches full operating temperature. Check the cooling system for correct fluid level and top off if necessary.

Where is fuel filter located on 98 sidekick 4dr auto 4wd 4cyl?


1. Raise the vehicle. Check to make sure the supports are safe and secure. Take a drain pan and several clean shop rags to mop up any spilled fuel.
2. Crawl under the right side of the vehicle between the front and back wheels. Set the drain pan under the fuel filter to catch any fuel that drains from the lines.
3. Press the fuel line clamp tabs with a pair of pliers and detach the fuel lines from the fuel filter. Slide the clamp down both fuel lines away from the fuel filter while maintaining pressure on the clamp.
4. Note the position of the fuel filter inlet and outlet nipples before removing the fuel filter. Remove the lower clamp bolt and loosen the clamp adjusting bolt. Remove the filter from the mounting clamp. Lift the fuel filter out of the mounting clamp.
Install the Fuel Filter:
1. Work under the vehicle. Slide the new filter into its mounting clamp. Tighten the adjusting bolt until it's snug. Turn the filter in the clamp so that the inlet and outlet nipples are in the same position as before removal. Tighten the adjusting bolt. Put the lower clamp bolt in position. Tighten it securely.
2. Connect the outlet hose to the top filter nipple. Connect the inlet hose to the lower nipple. Push the fuel lines up over the nipples as far as possible. Compress the fuel line clamp tabs and slide the clamp up each line until it is secure over the nipple.
3. Position the clamps at least 1/4 inch from the connected end of the fuel lines, making sure the clamps are set over the nipples. Start the engine and allow it to idle. Check for fuel leaks and make the necessary adjustments. Turn the engine off. Lower the vehicle.
Oh and if you missed it, filter is attached with a bracket to a crossmember in front of the fuel tank on the passenger side.

  1. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the horn assembly electrical connector.
  3. Remove the bolt that retains the horn assembly to the radiator support.
  4. Remove the horn assembly from the body.
Installation Procedure

  1. Install the horn assembly to the radiator support.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  3. Install the bolt that retains the horn assembly to the radiator support.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (88 lb in).
  5. Connect the horn assembly electrical connector.
  6. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .
