Whats the fuel presure supposed to be

Depends on engine type and tune. Early Throttle body injection was 11 to 13 psi and later 18 to 24 psi.
Port injection is mainly 32 to 52 psi, if you are looking for a start point I would use 42 psi or 3 bar. My current 496 chevy runs at 62 psi.

Just for the record, thats the throttle body.

If it is a vortec engine, is fuel pressure at least 65psi ?

I have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe 4 door V8 5.7 liter vortec. I replaced the fuel pump. I got good fuel pressure on the fuel rail up by the throttle body. It will start when I put fuel in the throttle body but it...

What is your fuel pressure with key on engine off? On these fuel systems if you do not have at least 52 psi or poppet valve inside the injector will not open allowing fuel thru.Let me know what it is i will try to help you.

94' blazer will not strart just died one day while driving it .i replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel ragulater, if you spray starting fluid in it it will start but then die whin the starting fluid burns...

check to make sure they sold you the right fuel pump. they are two pumps for a 4.3 ones a vortek and one is a throtlle body. the eighth digit of the vin will tell you one is a vin w and one is a vin z. the throtlle body only puts out about 11psi of pressure and the vortek puts out about 60psi of pressure.if you put the throttle body pump in a vortek engine there is not enough fuel pressure to run it.

97 jimmy runs when you pour gas into throttle body, fuel pumps is putting out 55 to 56 psi. but will not pickup the gas from the injectors, fuel manifold psi is 55 to 56psi. 1997 4.3 vortec engine

If the 8th letter of the VIN # is W which i bet it is than your fuel pressure is to low.

This engine uses a CPI unit to deliver fuel to the cylinders. The CPI unit consists of a central injector that feeds fuel to the poppet valve that are right above the intake valves. The poppet valves require high fuel pressure in order to open and deliver fuel to the cylinders at start up.

The reason why it starts and runs if you add a little gas through the throttle body is that once the vehicle is running the intake is under vacuum. The poppets can open with less fuel pressure in a vacuum. This is a real common scenario with these style injection systems.

A new good quality fuel pump (a/c delco or delphi are good pumps) and your fuel pressure should be back into spec of 58 psi or more and the vehicle should fire right up. Make sure you replace the fuel filter when you replace the pump.

2002 Chevy Blazer, car will crank but not start. Just changed the fuel filter and sprayed some starter fluid in the hose and the car started for a few seconds and then died again. Is there any way it could...

it could be a fuel pump they are quite common on the chevy trucks and SUV's. If it has a "Vortec" engine which it probably does, they run whats called a poppet nozzle fuel injecter that requires i think no less than abaout 53 psi of fuel pressure to run, you would have to put a fuel pressure guage on it to be sure and they are quite expensive

Will start when you put gas in carb but will not run (has new pump and filter)

what engine is in your truck? if it is the 4.3l v-6 this engine is very picky about the fuel pressure. it needs at least 55-56 psi to start. you need to get a fuel pressure gauge and check the pressure. i have had a few time when the parts store has given me the wrong pump with not pressure only 40 psi. or you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator. it could be leaking pressure off faster then what the pump can keep up with! check your fuel pressure with a gauge and see where you are at
