1 Answer

I would say don't pay,if it is the same problem they just worked on.
I am asumming that was not warrantee work?
So why are you at a dealer?
When the warrantee ends, you never go to a dealer again, unless your Bill Gates or Warren Buffet.

My 2005 nissian pick up is smoking and there is a heavy vibration of the entire truck what can i do to correct this problem

regarding vibration, this can be caused by a lot of things. some of which are broken engine supports and very low idle (below 700 rpm can cause a lot of shakes).

if your vehicle runs on diesel, have your fuel injectors cleaned and air filters replaced. then check if the smoke is still existing.

what color is your smoke?
1. white / light bluish in color - caused by water/coolant entering the combustion chamber.
2. black/gray/dark bluish color = caused by oil entering the combustion chmaber.

possible solutions for these are:
1. replace head gasket
2. replace valves/valve guides/valve seals
3. have a shop check your cylinder head for cracks or leaks.

Even though you replaced the sensor, and the light went out, the computer still retains the original codes until the codes are cleared using a scan tool. It's possible the computer has put the engine in a reduced power mode because the trouble codes haven't been cleared.

I have a 2005 Pathfinder LE.....I bought it new. I never really noticed before, but the engine sounds much louder than any other SUV I've been in. Are these engines supposed to be this loud?

All 2005 thru Nov 2009 Pathfinders,Frontiers and Exterra's have bad timing chains.

Borg Warner has a newer udated one, the factory started using,Nov 2009

Yes they are louder than other suv's

Don't mean to be hurtful here folks, but all that is avail on the internet.
Type in Nissan Issues or problems. Take a couple excedrines and a drink first.

Now take this very seriously. Research as I said, then IMMEDIATELY , at your expense, replace your radiator, with an aftermarket one,NOT another defective dealer one. All 2nd Generation Nissan trucks 2005 to 2007 and some 08, have bad trans oil cooler,on the bottom of radiator, and most everyone is having coolant getting into the trans and ruining it.
I used to own a trans shop and read that it is costing up to $4,500.00 for a trans. We didn't have 5 speeds in my time, but never charged more than $1,800 for a really damaged 4 speed, rebuild.
Now from what I read and you will also. Nissan won't replace the radiator or trans or EVER extent your warrantee.

That is the route all manufactures are going. And we bailed out a couple, that should have gone out of business.

I have a 2005 Nissan pathfinder

I just had the same issue with the same mileage as yours. Mine is the sending/sensing unit and it causes the range, distance to empty, etc. to be incorrect. The dealer is replacing for just under...$500. Another problem has been a whining sound under the hood, which they diagnosed as worn timing chain guides...cost to replace the guides is about $1,400. Not replacing results in the chain running on metal and chain wear, not to mention that whine. The service advisor said these two issues are the most common problems with Pathfinders. Good luck with your problems.

Engine noise

Sounds like a problem with the power valve actuator in the intake manifold collector. I would check with a Nissan dealer first and inquire of any recalls or service bulletins. Might save ya time & money.
