Fuel fill is very slow - have to hold pump handle at any gas station and let fuel trickle in. Dealer has replaced spout assembly, tank and vent to no avail.

Hello Jeff.
This surprises me that the dealer is unable to cure this problem.
Whenever I see this issue it is usually the evap vent solenoid stuck closed.
This is a relatively common problem seen in many makes and models.
You made no mention that they looked into this.
When you fill your vehicle with fuel, the vapor is fed through a carbon canister to trap them to be burned later.
This solenoid is activated to close that hose to allow for automated testing of the system integrity under certain driving conditions.
If the solenoid stays closed, the tank cannot vent and is very slow to fill the tank.
I would get them to check this issue. I bet this fixes your problem.
Here is a location diagram below.

Thank you for using FixYa.

99 legacy wagon won't fuel tank

most commonly the evap systems vent solenoid is plugged or inoperable causing pressure to build in the fuel tank as you fill up. this high pressure triggers the gas pump nozzle to shut off as it would if the tank had been filled. replace canister vent

This is caused by a defective fuel vapor recovery system in the fill pipe, you need the dealer to repair this.

When filling gas tank the gas pump kicks off unless I trickle in the gas. Takes about 10 minutes to fill 18 gallons of gas. What is the fix?

Fuel tank vent hose damaged, kinked, or bent.

Fuel tank vent valve is defective, plugged with dirt, or damaged.

If the car is driven normally and has never been in an accident, it's probably the valve.

2001 Durango acts like the gas tank is full during filling cutting off the pump. The only way to fill tank is to pump gas really slow

Chrysler and Dodge have a fuel vapor filter that allows air out of the gas tank but filters the harmful fumes. Usually the problem happens from topping off your gas after the gas pump stops due to the automatic shut off and then putting more gas in the tank (to make the bill an even $50. or to the next $5 increment, or pumping more in just because it fits). Anyway the filter gets saturated with gas, is not able to breath, and causes a vacuum in the tank. Because of this, the anti-siphon ball is not able to float around and sits at the opening of the fuel fill tube and won't allow any more gas to be put in (acts like the car is full). If you pump super duper slow like put a nickel to hold the gas pump handle, it will trickle in without a problem, but it takes forever! Solution, get the filter replaced and don't over fill the tank.

Fueling causes gas to back-up

Turn the handle 1 way or the other to follow the path of the fill spout as it is at an extreme angle beyond the filler nozzle portion.

I have a 2006 F250 which I have lots of aggravating problems with trying to fuel up. No matter which gas stations or method of inserting the nozzle into the fill tube I use, I am frustrated by the time it...

where the filler neck goes to tank didnt it have seperate tube which is vent or with filler neck hose off at tank look inside tube for another hose it is vent hose take fuel cap off and blow air from tank end towards the filler cap area we have had two ford vehicles lately in our shop when we blow shop air backwards thru hose several little round pieces of foil off of fuel injector cleaner bottles somehow they had become lodged in vent line and one customer had vehicle towed from gas station because they were on empty and would accept no gas you may want to check this doesn,t have to be cleaner bottle tops could be any sort of debris but ours came flying out of fuel cap when when blew air thru you could pump gas with handle all the way down she was happy

there is a tube that runs along side the filler neck to the gas tank, this tube allows air to escape from the gas tank as you fill it, if it gets kinked or obstructed then you have a hard fill situation, pull the filler neck/vent assembly out and replace it.

The fule tank vent tube is blocked/clogged. It's the little hole next to the filler hose that invites spiders that clog it up. Blow out the tube and it fixes the problem.
