The coolant temp sensor lets the cpu know when to turn on the fans when the coolant temp is high. It also shows the temp on the gauge in the car. I also have seen where if they go bad they will make the car run funny. It is located on the drive side in the cyl head on neons

ok did you check the coolant temp sensor?bay be the computer is getting the wrong massage so the wrong amount of fuel goes to the injectors,so try changing the coolant temp sensor for the computer

The neon does not have a MAF sensor. The intake air temp sensor is located in the air snorkel between the throttle body and the air filter.

2001 Plymouth Neon gets a little hotter than normal when parked or idling, but cools back down during driving


i would suggest making sure you have proper level of coolant in it and maybe go with a lower temp thermostat like a 140 or 160 degree

if car shuts off when hot outside, change thermostat and radiator pressure cap.-- heres more-car shuts off when tempurature of engine gets to normal. causes; low coolant, failing coolant temp. sensor, air in water pump. it takes 10-15 minutes to reach normal range. hope this helps! good-day!

Remove all bolts/screws holding the tank in place, the slowly pull it away and disconnet the hose(s). Make sure you reattach the hose(s) securely

2001 Neon cutting out, but only in the heat of the day


SOUND LIKE ENGINE RUNNING HOT.MAKE SURE COOLING FAN TURNING ON. WHILE ENGINE IDLING WATCH TEMP GAUGE AS THE TEMP CLIMB COOLING FAN SUPPOSE TO TURN ON IF NOT.CHECK FAN FUSE AND RELAY. IF BOTH GOOD HOT WIRE IT. NO RUN REPLACE FAN MOTOR IF FAN MOTOR DO RUN. YOU COULD HAVE A FAULTY COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR SHORT IN FAN CONNECTOR OR WIRES. CHECK COOLANT LEVEL.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 50/50 MIXTURE OF WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.TO BE ON SAFE SIDE REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND PRESSURE CAP.

Thie air temp sensor is in the Inlet Air duct just after the air filter. It just pulls out of the air duct hose and pops back in.

1997 Plymouth Neon, have replaced radiator, radiation cap, thermostate and hoses, still run hot. Fans do not seem to come on, where is the temperature sensor on this vehicle?

What coolant to use for 2001 plymouth neon


2001 most chrysler products switched to GO5 antifreeze. DEX cool will not work and should not be mixed. Check in your owners it will tell you. Or they make antifreeze now called all makes all models by prestone that will work. Please rate
