SOURCE: brake bleeding

if you didn't bleed the lines after putting the master in. then there is a good chance there is air in the lines now. may go through a quart of brake fluid before all the air is out. remember to start at r-rear/ l-rear/ r-front/ l-front last.will take some time. don't forget to adjust the rear brake while your there to help with the pedal

SOURCE: Bleeeding the clutch

Take the cap off and fill the reservoir. take the line lose at the master cyl. just let gravity work here, it should drip out, about a third of your reservior, catch it with some old rags. Tighten your line then, you will need some help. Some one to sit in the seat and pump the clutch peddle. Pump it and hold it down "then" loosen the bleed port on the slave cyl. to bleed it. do the pump and hold 4 -5 times that should do it.

I replaced the clutch master cylinder on my 96 chevy cavalier and I am trying to bleed the system now from the bleeder screw at the transaxle but it wont bleed and i have no clutch, why

They will usually gravity bleed with little or no problem. Crack the line open at the master just enough to let fluid start out, then tighten. Open the cap on the reservoir in case a vacuum has built up and won't let the fluid flow to the slave cylinder. Open the bleeder and push clutch pedal down. Close bleeder and let the pedal up, and repeat until you have fluid come out the bleeder in a steady stream.

How do i bleed the clutch master cylinder with a pressure bleeder on a 2003 chevy cavalier?

On those models, the slave cylinder is IN the transmission bellhousing so you can't reach it directly, but usually there is a metal hose coming out of the casing with a bleeder screw on it. So you will just need to use that to bleed the clutch, either with a pump or with a helper pumping the clutch, just like you would bleed brakes.

you have to bleed all 4 brakes even if you only replaced the 2 , start with the brake farthest from the master cylinder, and work your way up to the closest one, which in your case would be passenger rear, drivers rear, passenger front, drivers front, make sure as your doing this, that the master cylinder never runs out of fluid, or you have to start all over

If there's no leaks ( check back of tires ) your master cylinder is by passing, replace master cylinder and bleed brake system to get all air out of new master cylinder. ( bench bleed master cylinder first ).

has to be bench bleed.remove master cylinder need fittings that fit where your lines enter the side of the cylinder {get a bleeder kit at your local parts store}kit will have several different fittings and plastic hose.install fittings attach hoses run your hoses up into the filler cap fill with brake fluid.then take a medium size philip head screwdriver and push in on theplunger on the inside of your master cylinderuntil there is no bubbles going through the plastic tube.samboiv
