Disconnet the battery
remove the air bag
remove the the steering wheel center nut
pull wheel off with a wheel puller
remover the retainer off the steering wheel's lock plate with a compression lock plate tool
disconnect the directional connector at the mid area of the coluum
remove the retaining screws to the directional switch
remover the screw from the directional lever and pull out from the coluum slightly
attached a wire to the directional switches connector before pulling the switch completely out
you will need this wire on the new one to install
reverse this proceedure to install

How do I remove the steering wheel trim and replace the turn signal switch on a 1998 monte carlo z34?

If this critter has an airbag in the steering wheel, and I'll bet it does; then you should have this done by a dealer. Pulling the wheel off and replacing the multifunction switch underneath needs to be tended to by a trained person.

the signal flasher on this vehicle is part and parcel with the 4 way hazard switch. you must replace the whole hazard switch assembly if the flasher has gone bad. it is available at your local dealer, i believe it retails for around $65. good luck!

The turn signals only work when holding the signal at a certain position. The Hazard lights never work. Also the back-light on the dash do not come on with the head lights anymore.

the turn signal switch that is in the steering colum needs replacing it is worn out the dash lights are controled by the head light switch by turning the knob to the right or left there is also a fuse that is marked instr on the fuse box this is for the dash lights

96 monte carlo rear window brake light works but not brake lights. tail lights work, blinkers work, replaced brake switch and bulbs still not working

This is a common GM specific problem. Your turn signal switch contains an elaborate networking device that has to cancel brakelights while running a turn light. Often times the ground within the turn signal switch is lost causing your situation. After investigating such other possibilities as fuses and loose grounds it may become necessary to replace the turn signal switch. Thank you, Dana

2004 monte carlo. Turn signals dont work. The stalk still works with other functions, such as wiper, brights. The fuse is fine. Could it be a bad relay? When u push the stalk up or down nothing happens on...

try pressing the hazards on and off if they still don,t work replace the flasher unit. it is built into the hazard switch( all one unit ) change this and all will be good.
