Question about Chevrolet C1500

2 Answers

I have a 95 chevy 1/2 ton thay I replaced the clutch in. I know its a heavy duty transmission, so I am wondering if the clutch could be different. Clutch works fine in the cold, but when you work it hard, or the weather gets warm, its near impossible to get in gear. I used dot3 fluid, so Im wondering if there are different lengths of slave cylinders, or bigger master cylinders

Are you sue its the correct disk for the clutch for one i've had this happen when acme sold me the wrong disk it looks almost excatly the same but it was thinner and it fit fine It dosen;t sound like a hydrolic system problem because eighter that works or it dosen;t Did you have the flywheel turned that should always always be done for clutches and brakes for that matter theres just to much labor involved not to do this and the parts won;t last half as long as they should if you don;t Idon;t know what else to tell you if the disk is wrong there are going to say its your fault for not checking And if the flywheel wasn;t turned it is your fault good luck and sorry im just being honset

You know about the contraction and exspansion law. It's probably the slave cylinder. It does get fairly hot when you work your transmission hard. This would cause blow by past the orings in the slave. you can only get what the manufacturer made for the vehicle. What happened to the old linkage systems that you could adjust?

Would like to know if the clutch assembly from a 98 chevy cavalier, will work on my 97 chevy cavalier..

clutches are made to plate diameters
if it fits one gm product then it will fit a same product a year later
the only differences is the pressure plate setting as the later engine if it has a higher torque rating may require a heavy duty pressure plate to stop slippage in low gears
heavy duty generally means longer clutch life in heavy conditions requiring a lot of clutch work

Bad torque converter

You are expecting a lot from a torque converter to full 2.5 tons at 60 mph. The converter will be a standard unit and will experience considerable slip under these conditions .Run fault codes to ensure that the converter clutch is operational. Talk to an auto transmission shop about a heavy duty converter that is more suited to the job.

I have a 99 ford F550, and have replaced the clutch on it 3 times in the last 5 months. I do not understand why it keeps going out. This issue has been very frustrating and expensive. Is there an...

many clutch issues and I take it you are referring to a slipping clutch originate in a faulty clutch master cylinder where the compensating port is blocked
if you have not fitted a new clutch master cylinder try that
another thing is that an f550 is a heavy duty truck so clutch work will require a flywheel machining and a heavy duty clutch pressure plate not an every day clutch kit

1995 chevy suburban wont go in reverse

One of the bands or clutch packs are burned out in the transmission. Or that piston could have a blown or ripped seal.
That vehicle has a 4L60E transmission I am fairly sure. If it is a 1 ton it may have the 4L80E. If you really want to know I could probably check my books and tell you exactly which clutch pack.
I should think you would have other symptoms though as well like first gear going straight to second or some such thing.
This is all assuming it is an automatic. If it is a manual stick transmission then you still have a transmission problem. Would need more information to track down what exactly. Things like noises and circumstances. for instance the shifter goes into the reverse spot but
nothing more then a funny noise. OR the shifter wont even go into the reverse position.

1989 Chevy 1 ton wont start

It is likely the electronic ignition control module. When they go, they just go bad and usually when you are driving.

If it was a smaller vehicle it could also be a timing belt but your's has a heavy duty valve train so no worries there.

Problems with a replacement radiator.

check that shroud difference is not a fan to core 'clearance' issue.
1. drill new holes in shroud ?
2.fabricate a bracket out of strap steel to bolt them together ? 3. go back to advanced auto for heavy duty ready shroud ?
