It is just wear and tear. It's just time to replace it.

92 Dodge Dakota V6 dies randomly. Why?

hope that it isn't the head gasket (white smoke from oil or water ending up in cylinders?)-check water for bubling, and oil spending perhaps, could maybe be faulty lambda probe(exhaust)/air mass probe(intake) or broken exhaust/intake gasket causing wrong mixture(more fuel) - the car can spend much more fuel as normal, can also be the spark timing too late maybe.high pitch mechanical clanking at higher rpm can be heard from the valves - perhaps timing belt?. if it is some kind of electrical fail you are lucky :)

I have a 1991 Lexus LS400, I will be driving it and it will up and die on me as though it is not getting any fuel, I've taken it to the shop and they are unable to find anything wrong, they said fuel pump...

Have the timing checked out. If it is off a couple of teeth, the engine should run, but will die when warmed up. Your 8 Cylinder uses a timing belt with a hydraulic belt tensioner. If the tensioner is leaking, or worn from old age, the belt may jump a couple of teeth. I believe your engine is an interference engine. If the belt has slipped, it is possible you may have bent valves, or worse.

Just wondering, when the engine dies on you while driving, does it start right back up, or does it start up only after cooling down?

Waterpump/alternator belt keeps breaking on 2000 mazda protege. belts squeal all the time then break

do you have a siezed tensioner pulley that could do it . remove the serpentine belt and check the idler puller, then the alt if it's siezed , the water pump pulley should turn freely also check what is siezed and making the belts squeel something's not turning.

Sounds like you have burned a belt off the pulley for the alternator and water pump. Dont drive the car until you have verified the belt is intact and the water pump is turning. Something had to have caused it if it did, I would suspect water pump, alternator, or air conditioning compressor has siezed if your car is equipped with it.

Timing belt/chain

take a peek in your timing chain, if its still there and tensioned, if it is,then that shouldnt be it, look for some other posible cause. i havent had any situation that a timing chain jumped into the next teeth. I assume that you got a 4 cyl 22r engine.
