Problem for Chevrolet 1996 Blazer

1996 Blazer

The position of the dipstip you tried to help me with is the check for the trans/lock, it's filled with gear oil. I am looking for one directly to the auto trans. Should be red fluid. There are no other dipsticks besides the oil and power steering.

- I got a manual for my Blazer and I was right. The stick is for checking transfer case oil, NOT to check the tranny. To check tranny fluid, you must check it under the vehicle at the transmission fluid fill hole............. Checked it and I am low. Thanks for all the help though.

no that is the trans if it smells and looks like gear oil you need a transmission trans for transmission lock is the position to lock down the stick in this 4l60e your fluid is just that dirty there is NO way to check gear oil from the top at all once again that is your trans fluid yes it should be bright red but if it looks like gear oil you most likely have waited way too long to check it...
