Question about 1998 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Clutch problem I think my 98 Honda Accord clutch went out. When I press down on the clutch, the pedal goes all the way to the floor and sticks and I can't put the car in gear. Does it sound like th clutch?

Check the fluid level first, if its empty this will happen, if so full it and bleed the clutch, if not it could be the slave cylinder and failing both, it could be the clutch itself, easiest way to check is to see on the gearbox if the clutch is engaging when you press the pedal down.
just ask if you need more help

Since you say the clutch pedal has good pressure then the hydraulic release system should be working properly. It still would be a good idea to have someone press on the pedal while you watch the slave cylinder, to confirm it is moving. If it is then most likely your clutch is worn out. There is a small chance that 1 of the axles has popped out of the differential, you can look at both axles and confirm that they are still both right up against the transmission housing. But I think if this has happened, then when you accelerate, then your speedometer would move.

Clutch pedal straight to floor

If you put the trans in neutral and depress the clutch pedal it should still start.
The clutch is hydraulic, so there should be something connecting the pedal to the master cyl and the slave cyl to the clutch disk.

I just got a new used 1995 honda accord and already i'm really unhappy. The gears stick terribly and the breaks... you have to push down really hard and they don't break fast. What can i do about the gears...

the gears are sticking? is the shifter just really tight and hard to move from one gear to the next, or even just wiggle around in neutral? if so, you may need new bushings for it. which are not very expensive. IF the shifter wiggles around easily in neutral, but hangs in a gear when you press the clutch in all the way, you could need a clutch, OR hopefully you can just try bleeding the clutch line. at the master cylinder on the transmission. the breaks.... do you have to push the pedal down really hard, or really soft and far? if you're putting a lot of pressure on the pedal but you don't have to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor, that would indicate to me that your pads and rotors are glazed over. you should replace the rotors, pads and have the calipers checked, and have the brakes bled. if you've got to push the pedal all the way to the floor, there's a good chance all you'll need is to have the brakes bled.

Clutch no pressure

replace the clutch slave and master cylinder, this is a hard one to bleed, may have to pry clutch arm all the way in so slave piston is all the way back to not be able to hold air, once all air is out you may have to pump pedal maany times let it sit then pump pedal again you will see pedal getting better and better, good luck.

1996 honda accord clutch goes all the way to the floor

check the slave and clutch master cylinder for leakage. look under the dash , at the clutch master) push rod attached to the clutch pedal) . try to see if there are any leaks around it. if so have it replaced and have the system bled to remove all fluid and air stuck in the system.

98 Accord DX clicks once when key is turned, eventually starts

Check battery terminals and make sure they are free of corrosion and are tightly secure on battery. If all is good it may be the stater that's sticking. or maybe clutch safety switch on clutch pedal is going bad. Good Luck contact me if you need more help
