I Have a chrysler 300c with 2100 miles. I try to drive it, on a flat parking lot, and the gear shift won't come out of park. Tried all the stuff people have said to do, still won't move out of park. This does not sound like the E14 recall sounds like a cover up on an engineering malfuction. What is going on?

2005 chrysler 300 will not go into gear. it is not the brake interlock system. it has to be some type of sensor. no transmission issues up to now.

I have the same problem, out of the blue. Tried rocking and pumping on brakes. Afraid to yank in the shifter any more in fear of breakin it. Checked fuses and the did the pink lever in the pocket next to shifter. Nothing works. Anybody have any luck with this problem?

2006 touring just stuck on my wife. $468.00 not including towing and rent a car. Calling Chyrsler is like getting a weather report in New Deli. I have searched the Web and have come to the realization that Chrysler knows of this problem and will not fix it. I'm so glad our bailout money went to help this company screw us a liitle more.

I had the same problem, could not shift out of park. I was leaving my job after working 8 hours. I call AAA and they could not fix the problem. My son-in-law went on the internet and saw others with the same problem and talk AAA through the process of pressing the pink plastic and nothing happen. We found the gray cable and used the screwdriver to release the cable and move it out of park. It worked long enough to get home. The next day it was stuck in park again and we used the same technique of using the screwdriver to disengage the cable wire located on the left size in the gear shift box. I was able to get it to the dealer. Cost $388.00 to get this fix, what a ripoff. It should have been free, this is a problem that Chrysler should admit to.

The best solution that i can give you is to pumping the brake while hammering the shifter with a mallet and yanking the shifter down (all at the same time). its should be enough if you want another answers here is a link:

My car is stuck in park

If the shifter won't move out of park, the problem could be the brake light switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park. Those components would need to be checked with a meter.

I have a 2005 Chrysler 300, As I shifted the car from park to reverse I heard and felt a pop in the gear shift. The gear shift moves but the car is stuck in low.

Go to the Prindle switch where the cable meets the transmission and check if it has not unhooked. Move the shifter all the way to the Park position and adjust/tighten.

My chrysler 300 shifter is stuck in park? how do i release the interlock so the shifter will go into gear?

pull up and out on the small storage compartment to the right of the shifter, this will uncover a small pink lever...that is the emergency release. If that don't work...the problem is further down on the shifter and requires removing the console, more work, and some new parts. Good luck, i hope this helps.

My 2005 Chrysler 300 is stuck in park . What should I do ??

There is an electrically operated lock out that prevents you from taking it out of park unless you are pressing on the brake. If the brake switch is bad, or the solenoid is bad, it will not release out of park.
See if the solenoid at the shifter is getting current.
If not, it is the probably the brake switch.
If it is, then it is probably the solenoid.
But you can always just remove the lock out also.

2005 chrsyler 300... Car starts, but gear shift stuck in park. Help!

You don't need a shifter assembly. Inside your console is a small "pink" plastic lever that has a spring attached that locks the shifter in park. The small "pink" plastic piece where the spring is attached breaks off. Mine broke off at 45000 miles. Billet technologies makes a aluminum replacement for about $60.00 that won't wear out. The Chrysler forum has pictures and detailed instructions on the replacement procedure.

Stuck in park

vehicle has a brake inter-lock system where depressing the brake pedal closes a pedal switch then energizes a solenoid in the shifter housing which will permit shifter movement(the pink lever is a manual over-ride in the event this sytem becomes inoperative). I would check brake pedal switch and a voltage signal to the solenoid when depressing which should isolate the inoperative component or missing voltage.

Having troble with chrysler 300

It may be the plastic pieces that are connected to the shifter, they have been known to break easily and render the shifter stuck in place. To check this part, you must remove the center console pieces and when you get to the shifter you will see two pink pieces of plastic, if one of these pieces are broken removing it will let the shifter move, but it will slide easily of course so be careful. The part is inexpensive from the dealer and easy to replace. If you need assistance removing the console without breaking or snapping your panels, get a service manual from Promanuals.net, here is link to your 2005 Chrysler 300. It will give you easy step by step instructions on removing and replacing.
