Question about 1996 Subaru Legacy

1 Answer

My subaru has passed 260000 kms, probably a lot when you think about it. Anyways, my subaru does not accelerate when engine is warm enough. When i press gas pedal, it is just stays on same speed. For instance when engine temp. is on middle level, and i am driving on light highway with the speed limit 80 km/hr and when I start accelerate from sixty to 80 sharply, it would not accelerate. It is just stays on 65 and then speed even drops. I think it happens because of cold weather. Another question. When engine temperature just started rising, outside approximately 2 degrees Celsius and I start driving and then stop on the red light, after lets say 2 minutes, car's engine and car itself starts shaking. Why?

SOURCE: Car won't start and floods

Sir,

You can check fuel pressure and Low fuel pressure may cause a lean trim mode so the PCM will compensate by adding more fuel to the fuel injection system to compensate.

Also, remove the vacuum line at the fuel pressure regulator and check for raw fuel indicating a ruptured diaphragm. A flaky fuel pressure regulator may cause longer than normal starting but the fuel pressure check will test it. Check at fuel pump prime, at idle and with the vacuum line at the fuel pressure regulator on and off.

Thanks
Good luck

SOURCE: Cold Start Idle Issue

Problem might be the air control valve, it's located at the right side rear of intake manifold and has a hose going to the air intake duct from the air cleaner, as a test you might try pinching off that hose when the idle is a problem.

SOURCE: 2006 Subaru Impreza. Oil warning light stays on

No, just keep an eye on it to see it does not start staying on longer and longer. The oil pressure sensor my be a little off,and at worse the oil pump is a little weak. Just keep up on the oil changes.3500 miles max.

Oil pressure light comes on at stops in gear when engine is warm. Light goes off in nuetral & park

Hi Cindy:
Make, model, and year would help, also kms.
I'm guessing an older vehicle with high mileage.
You could go try a heavier weight oil, like 15 w-40, or an additive like STP.
If it's not using a lot of oil between changes, it's probably old and tired.............. Sort of like me.
Cheers

1997 subaru Impreza sport won't stay running . stalls after minute replaced Fuel pump, filter spark plugs wires ,cleaned injectors checked fuel pressure what next

check your grounds. I find many easy fixes by cleaning all the grounds around the engine bay. I would also check the ground at the fuel pump connector that wiring is prone to corrosion and breakage

Subaru 2003 forester check engine light came on same time transmission seemed to stick. . . almost got into an accidnet becasue car wouldn't accelerate.

The "check engine" warning light advises that the vehicle is in "fail safe" mode. That means only some of the car's capabilities are operational, just enough to get you to the nearest service point. You probably should not drive it any further than that. Have your Subaru service man download and analize the fault codes from the car's ECM which will indicate what the problem is.

Jumping or jerking when i accelerate

I had a turbo renault , I cranked the wastegate down to increase boost and had same problem.
There was a sensor that cut the ignition if the turbo was over pressuring. Was a pretty violent jerking, felt like it was tearing the engine mounts out.

Hard to start warm engine

Sounds like you have a problem with your fuel injectors, either they are working to much or not enough once they get warm....

Take it to a shop ant tell them you want the injectors tested.
