Question about 1993 Chevrolet C1500

2 Answers

I have a very loud scraping noise in my 93 Silverado. It isn't there all the time, and it seems to be coming from either the front left wheel area or somewhere near the cab on the left side. It is most noticable when slowing down or when first starting out under low acceleration. The handling doesn't seem to be affected, but the truck does seem to jump as this is happening almost like something is catching and rubbing something, again this isn't a constant problem and sometimes I can run the truck without any noise at all, there doesn't seem to be a pattern either as it doesn't happen always at the same time or when I'm performing the same function with the truck.

It sounds like its related the the wheel it could be a brake caliper thats sticking sometimes Iwould pull the tire off and check to see what kind of shape the rotor and pads are in look for one of the pads to be likely the inside one to be much thinner then the outter one the ware limit is around 80-100-ths of an inch

I heard scraping noise and it turned out all but one motor mount was broken and it was the fan scraping the shroud due to the engine having shifted. You might check it out.

I hear a loud grinding noise when i drive my car

Check front tyres & wheel bearings espesially the R/H/F. Feel tyre for high / low spots on inside & jack up & spin wheel if you get noise while jacked up it is not the tyres but wheel bearing or brake pads but more than likly a crook bearing by the sound of it. It needs to be tended to ASAP

2008 siverado. Front-end humming. Sounds like extremely loud tire pattern noise coming from left-front wheel area, noise stops when i turn the steering wheel to the right. replaced tire with no results.

it is your wheel bearing. the bearing is a sealed unit so you replace the hub assembly. remove wheel, caliper, brake rotor.if it is 4x4 loosen axle nut. there are three 15mm bolts on back side of spindle remove these and slide hub out replace with new one. most hubs come with new wheel speed sensor so remove harness from connectors or if no new one remove the screw holding it in place to hub and slide out.

May be CV-joint going. Have a look at boot for hole that dirt may have been getting in damaged it. Never hurts to inspect brakes while wheel is off.

Loud humming noise from front end of Durango 4 x 4

You have a hub/wheel bearing going out. You need to jack up the vehicle on each side. Grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try to move it in/out at the top and bottom. If this does not work then roll the wheel as fast as you can and see if you can hear which one it is. Good Luck.

93 Grand Caravan right rear wheel/brake problem(s)

well i can help with problem #2

even if you tightened the wheel bearing, it is probably worn out..

what it does when it's loose is you won't hear much noise when you drive on a strait road but the minute you put some weight on it, like when you take a curve, the weight of the body is applied on the bearing resulting in a scraping noise....

and the faster you'll drive the more noise you'll get

so let's say you take a left turn you're gonna hear noise from the right wheel...
