Question about Alfa Romeo Spider

2 Answers

Just had new front tyres fitted last thursday and now when I drive at 40mph or greater the whole car shakes left to right. After the tyres were fitted the mechanic advised me that a wheel locking nut was missing however i am sure this was not the case when I took the car into the garage. Could this be the problem?

What make of tyres have you had fitted ,because it sounds like they are from poland and they are rejects that are sold for farm trailors that only go around the farms .They are deformed so they are rejects that are ok for a farm but no good for teh road i would advise you to return to garage and ask them to fit michelin or hankook then iam sure your problem will disappear

Sounds the tires are out of balance and maybe the alignment is off also. did they balance the tires no tire is perfect and will need weighs added to it to balance the tire out to cancel the vibration at high speed.

I have an "04" Chevy Cavalier recently started violently shaking if I drive over 40mph and I can't hardly keep it in my own lane there's also a kinda bird chirping noise any ideas what this might be?

I suggest a full front suspension and steering ball joint check including wheel bearings and cv joints
if all ok then have a wheel alignment as it sounds like a castor wobble problem

I have a strange sound that sounds like im running on a flat tyre coming from my front nearside wheel arch. There are no obvious issues with the drive gear or suspension and the tracking has just been

Does the noise only occur at or above a specific speed? I'm hoping for your sake that one of the plastic fender liners or under carriage covers have come loose and are flapping in the wind or against the wheel when you pick up speed? If a tight turn instigates it then my thinking is that the dislodged cover is caught by the wheel at full turn (the clunk) and then flaps and rubs while you drive?

When driving 40mph let go of steering wheel car pulls to the left ,2002 toyota avalon

Try flipping the front tires right to left and so on car may have a radial pull road test to see if it goes right or strait (first check tire pressure )

I hear a loud grinding noise when i drive my car

Check front tyres & wheel bearings espesially the R/H/F. Feel tyre for high / low spots on inside & jack up & spin wheel if you get noise while jacked up it is not the tyres but wheel bearing or brake pads but more than likly a crook bearing by the sound of it. It needs to be tended to ASAP

My car shakes and jerks to the right. I think i need an alignment. Could bald tires make a car shake and ****?

No, bald tyres can only make the car skid to their side not shake or **** it. It could be brake adjustment gone out too.

My car vibrates the steering system is in good condition, has a proper alignment, proper balancing, changed two engine support and perform a repair in the stump of the left front wheel

Hi I am Vortash the main things that cause wheel Vibration are
1/ wheel balancing ( thrown weights mostly )
2/ wheel bearings
3/ susppension arms
4/ ball joints
5/ track rod ends worn
6/ steering shims loose
7/ damaged cv joints or drive shafts (transverse engines )
8/ Prop shaft missalignment (rear wheel drives )
9/ and this is the most popular one tyres not fitted correctly (twisted )
10/ unlikely but more common than you might think Buckled wheels pot hole at 40mph do a lot of damage ..
hope this gives you some ideas and good luck with finding a solution regards Vortash
