My car is overheating, autozone said that I have a whole in a vacuum tube. What does that mean?

Trans is in limp mode,


Go to an Autozone, Advance, or O'reilys for a scan. Limp home means engine problems too.

Overheating is a problem or loss of signal from an engine sensor. One thing you might try is after, and only after you get a scan is to wipe the memory.

The companion computer may have embedded info and is responding to the old "Limp signal".

Check any Vacuum lines or Vacuum dashpots which can affect powertrain controls.

1998 neon fuel gauge reads backwards

I have replaced the radiator, thermostat fan motor&sensor & its still overheating but my temperature gauge is not telling me its hot & water is coming up threw my radiator cap i replaced it but...


Head gasket blown and compression is building in the cooling system and pushing the coolant out.
To check this you can get a block test kit from Napa Auto parts or a good parts supplier (or may have a shop check it so you don't have to buy the whole kit).
Its a blue liquid and a tube with a suction device and a cone. You empty some coolant from the radiator and run the car at idle. hold the tube with the blue liquid in the radiator opening and draw vapor into the tube. If the liquid turns yellow that means there is combustion chamber gasses in the cooling system (head gasket, cracked head, cracked block)

Also if you replaced the belt and this started happening, make sure its routed properly

check passenger side firewall, where the carpet meets the firewall. there is a fuel cut off switch. most likely it's tripped or the connector came off.

There is a flap in your heater box that is controled by your vent switch by your heater controls. listen for a vacuum leak. that is common and hopfully the problem. there is vacuum lines that control the vent door that redirects the air to your vents.

Has your dash been messed with recently? if so i would check there first. you should hear a hissing if thats the problem.

Otherwise these also are common for that door flap to break and not switch NE more. thats the only 2 things that i can think of off th wtop of my head to be the problem. this would require the whole dash to come apart if its this problem
