I have a 91 honda accord with an automatic trans. & when i shift into reverse it refuses to engage & makes a high pitch gear slipping grinding sound ! NOT GOOD ! ,I just replaced the transmission con

Definitely not good. The transmission is slipping internally due to worn gears and clutch packs. It will have to come out for rebuilding, IMO. Have a transmission shop check it out.
Good luck.

I have a 2000 honda accord with 170000 miles on with rev problems

The transmission filter should be changed at least every 30,000 miles if that hasn't been the case. Replacing the filter may fix the problem, otherwise it will need to be repaired.

Want to know do i need a transmission or not: The car goes into drive and reverse fine, however, when im driving the car it takes longer than usual going to the next gear, wasting lots of gas. To make it go...

I would suggest taking it to a reputable trans shop. Because there are selonoids inside a trans that just need to be replaced that are acting up. Make sure you take it to a reputable shop.!!!!!!!! Hope this helps, leave comment.

Electrical problems with my 96 honda accord

This happens because the removal of the current to the computer or CPU gets de-programed. You may be able to solve the problem (if it comes up gain ) by disconnecting the negative cable with the engine off. Then renstalling it back after a minute. This will reprogram the computer.

Reverse acts as neutral. (auto tranny)

It is hard to say, but as long as all of the forward gears work fine, then it might work for a long time. But without knowing what is wrong, I would at least change the fluid to remove as much metal or clutch material as you can. Don't worry about the filter, you can't change it without disassembling the trans. Just drain the fluid and refill it. This won't fix reverse, but it might prolong further problems. And don't park where you can't pull straight out.
