Window wipers not working on ford escort van, have already changed stalks, and relay, also fuse intact

FRONT wipers,. not left gate rear , correct.?


it;s dead or what? not told at all what it does wrong. (or good)
eg. sweeps only ,part way,or never stops or 100& dead>
are both arms dead//.. sorry we can't see it fail..
check all fuss first
scan to PCM 2nd
stop gue$$ing.
or find a shop and out come their votmeter to find it.
can be bad grounds to.
fuse 6 ,30 amps must not be blown
then 2 relays must work"windshield on/off relay AND , windshield wipe speed relay both must be good.
g101 ground near wipe motor
The FEM module, see the stalk set to wiper fast (best) and
then closes both relays and bingo, wiper motor runs
stalk >>>FEM>>>relay1/2>>>>wiper motor
that is how it works
FEM goes dead to if fuse 2 and 113 blow. and fuse 14 too

even a bad ground to the wiper stalk switch, fails.
a tech does the tests the facts (measurements) dictates their actions, tracing the failing path correctly. it is a skill.Not a guessing game.

the wiper fuses / relays are in the top left of the fusebox

open the bonnet open the black fuse and relay plastic box. Listen for the relay kicking in or you may be able to feel the relay or look on the cover for the relay location. Pull out the relay .
I have a faulty headlight switch myself and had to hard wire my head lights on with a jump wire. The relay is in my pocket until I can get a new headlight indicator stalk. You may be able to jump wire the wipers with spade connectors to work with a jump wire in case you need wipers until you can replace the wiper stalk .
It could be a stuck relay causing the fault rather than the switch. you need to check if switch causes voltage to turn off accross the relay coil in the relay mount block.

Sounds like an earthing problem if you have already checked the relay and fuses. although if they are both controlled by the same stick on the steering wheel it may be lose or have packed up completely. Like you say its strange both are not working.

Start at the route of the wiring to the wipers and trace it all the way until you find the fault if its not the stalk!

This sound like some type of relay switch failure in the fuse box, you need check all the fuses and see if they're all intact and make sure none of them are burned out. If all these are not working you have a live wire some where in you wire harness

Most probably it is a relay problem. First check from car manual which relay is commanding to your wipers, blower etc... Then you or your service have to replace it.

fuse boxes tent to go faulty on escorts. try manually providing a 12v feed to the dip beam fuse in the fuse box. if the fuse box is faulty then it shuold light up the headlights. columb stalks are also very common on the ford also.

IT SOUNDS TO ME AS IF IT COULD BE THE ACTUAL STALK, IT IS VERY COMMON ON THESE VANS

this is a similar problem to the one i had, it sounds like the fuse box may be breaking down one by one, usually means a replacement fuse box

FOR THE DASH LIGHTS, FIRST CHECK YOUR FUSES, IF NOT ITS PROBABLY THE STALK ITSELF, COMMON FAULT ON THESE.
FOR THE GRINDING CHECK THE WHEEL BEARINGS, AND BRAKES
